My Recaros, got heater elements? How to get em working?

Post by Russboy » Tue Apr 21, 2009 4:35 pm

Lifted out the passenger Recaro in my S4 Avant and I suspect they have got the heater element hence the green plug in these pics:

So first question have I got the heater elements in place?

Next question, this is my dash so obviously need a different aircon panel:

So get it all up and running can anyone give me a list of the parts I need and if you have them the actuall part numbers (if they still make them) would be great as I can give that list to my mate at Croydon Audi who can price it all up for me,

Cheers,

Russ

Don't have the part numbers Russ, but you would be as well trying to get the climate control unit complete with the loom from a breakers yard. That's what I did.

Another option might be to see if anyone who has fitted Pole Positions would be willing to swap/part-ex climate control units, seeing as how they no longer need the heated seat controls.

Good thinking!

Found or rather been given the link to the aftermarket loom for 49 euros so not to bad.

Would the aircon control panel in mine be different to say the RS4 or is it just the facia? I doubt it would be just the facia but one can hope!!

You'll specifically need an aircon unit from a car that has a single DIN audio head unit like yours. If it has a double DIN head (e.g. SatNav+) then the aircon unit sits below it (where your ashtray is now), with the ashtray even lower. Such an aircon unit has a moulded facsia which will not fit in the slot that you have. AFAIK every RS4 came with SatNav+ so for sure an RS4 unit won't fit.

Sat nav was an option on the RS4, I deliberately didn't order it on mine since I had a unit which I could retrofit for less than Audi were charging.

Having saad that the radio option was a Symphony II which is also double DIN, so the climate control unit was also the double DIN version.
