just been watching dyno videos on utube of the rs4 and found some videos of m3 and rs4
rs4 vs m3
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLGrJjJpcSA
rs4 vs csl
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLToziJ96eI
There were some of the new m3 aswell which seemed much faster than the rs4 (dont like the new m3 though)
The vids are making me think that the rs4 is down on power. I will post my thoughts when i test drive one this weekend.

Mines not slow either !pippyrips wrote:The first video uses a modded M3, and the 2nd is a stripped out CSL. It's not exactly comparing apples and apples!
I had a play with an E46 M3 last night
Drive the car with an open mind, none of them are slow.
Regardless of the dyno result.
A month or so ago, a nice man in a porsche carrera 4s had to pull over and let me pass, he couldn't shake me from his arse, all the way through the gears !!!
Had a blat with 2 bikes as well recently, going up a hill (dual carriage way)
i was stuck to them both, hitting the redline in every gear, they couldn't lose me, they were at least 750's or 900's.

I was with you until the last bit, unless there were lots of bends (and no I am not a biker)Gazzer68 wrote: A month or so ago, a nice man in a porsche carrera 4s had to pull over and let me pass, he couldn't shake me from his arse, all the way through the gears !!!

I think he's saying that there's no way an RS of any type could keep on the arse of two sports bikes unless it was in the twisties and I'm inclined to agree.
I can't keep up with the bike and I'm pulling away from stock B7's

DOOH !
Sorry bit tired this evening.
No seriously, i was behind 2 bikes, we were overtaking traffic. They were stepping on it, with me behind, redlining every gear, i overtook at about 150 !
Maybe they bottled it then?
I remember 1 bike was painted in rizzla colur blue?
Dont know anything about bikes so....

Perfect post Jim - agree 100%rAudiguy wrote:First thing's first I bought my car not knowing any of the above. I came from a E46 M3 and trust me the arse dyno will blow you away! have no doubt this car is far far better than the old M3, having driven a New M3 INMO it's also better than that too. the 340bhp S4 you refere to would also underproduce on this dyno so no point in making any comparissons with manufactures published figures. Bottom line is don't let any of this put you off buying an RS4. It is one of the best all round cars money can buy and I for one wouldn't change mine for anything else in it's category on the road right now.james_algar wrote:ok, but surely the difference in numbers from 311hp to 386hp suggest that when buying an rs4 its a bit of a lottery as to how naughty your engine is going to be?? I cant believe the figures would be so low as the old s4 was 340 odd hp wasnt it- maybe they dont like being stuck on the dyno or something...PetrolDave wrote: You need to read the threads all about how wheel dynos are only an ESTIMATE of crank HP, and that runs on a drag strip suggest that most RS4's ARE developing the claimed engine HP before jumping to conclusions.
ArthurPE's posts are worth reading IMHO.
Also note that the top two cars in that list are modded and the bottom ones have known fault codes.
Be sure to go drive the car and see how it compares to your M3. I wouldn't worry about the Dyno figures in this thread, fact is if we did a drag race between all 22 cars that ran on this day there probably wouldnt be much in it, but trust me you would be at the back in your M3.
It's a brilliant car with so much to offer don't let silly things get in the way of your deccision, trust me people who spend £180,000 on Ferrari's have plenty more problems than we do.
The most inportant thing to do is get a long test drive not half an hour half a day. By the end of it you will have a big smile on your face as did everyone who drove home on Saturday regardless of the figures.
