Perhaps its worth reminding Audi that they have, on the basis of lacklustre dyno figures, taken an RS4 back.
Maybe get on to the barrister that VARSITY used to effect this process?
When you drop the car off, include a written statement of your objections/concerns with the cars performance and cc it to both your lawyer and Audi HQ.
Whilst you're at it, I'd include some photgraphic evidence from this board of the potential deposition in the inlet - we know this affects power so it could be part of your argument. If you can get that cleaned at Audi's expense that'd be a great result....for all of us!
Of course Mac's experience of his local dealer wanting plots just goes to show that the dealers make it up as they go along...
Curiously, if Mac's dealer is asking whether 360-370hp is acceptable, what is the implicit suggestion????!!!!
You know what - I bet when Audi originally dynoed this 4.2 on the engine dyno, they forgot to hook the bugger up to the exhaust. That'd explain everything....

After the full £500+ service Audi have agreed to run rolling diagnostics on the car, and check all my figures vs what they should it be reading (Audi's techincal figures for the car)
I suppose I'm meeting them half way, the service will eliminate anything simple. They are prepared to show me the Audi figures and the figures my car is producing under road testing.
They will then look at replacing parts based on those results.
I think its a start, what do you guys think?

Just for info I'm going to call in to my dealer and see the salesman I deal with (I've had 6 cars from him in 4 years so he's always glad to see me!!!) They have always been very helpful and I would be interested to see what thier angle is on this although my 355bph unit doesn't seam nealy as bad as Oli's or MacRS4.

Ipswich...only went back after I problems @ Chelmsford...thats interesting... which dealer/stealer is this?

I had probs with Ipswich 8 yrs ago - This was with an S3 @ and a fault with the exhaust system in the wet (had been going on for months). The thing was, they denied any problem existed (I even went as far to say 'was there a tech bullitin about it'). A definite NO was the answer from the service manager & we can't help you further.
Problem is, I'm not a person that can be fobbed off...phoned three other Audi dealers, & from memory Scotts in London said there was a fault with the updated S3's & gave me the tech bullitin No. !

For sure I'm not alone here & hey I'm very lucky to own such a car, but does it not frustrate you that these people just do not want to HELP!
SR71 may not be far from the truth - the forgot to hook up the exhaust! Lets be plainly honest here - they got haven't a ***ing clue.
Anyway, I'm going to make a stand - take a simple piece of paper to my stealer dealer with the letters 414 - that's what I want, that's what I paid for two years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have hired the rollers for an hour, week wed morning (29th April) from 9am, they are supplying the operator (of course), but i can do what i wish, within this hour.
So what i am going to do is this.....
1. 3 runs same tyres pressures (f41 r38), trac off. hopefully this will give me a comparison to saturdays figures.
2. 7 runs tyre pressures at f50 r47 trac off
3. 7 runs tyre pressures at f50 r47 epc off
4. 7 runs tyre pressures at f41 r47 epc off gearbox should be well hot by now !
5. 7 runs tyre pressures at f41 r47 epc off, k&n fitted
Hopefully vag com in the car for all runs, (has it got a log facility?)
Anyway, if anybody wants to come along and run theirs, let me know, i'll extend the time.
Cost is £141 inc vat for an hour. or power run £58.75 inc vat
Incidently, while talking to power station today they said that the tyres (type and pressure) can make a massive difference to the figures !
I know since changing to vredstein it is now like riding on balloons, continentals were far far better.
Just hoping that if they need bedding in, that they will improve?
They also said that dyno dynamics were not very accurate with the figures, so we will see !
Theirs is a different make by the way MAHA RAM3000.

I know Powerstation very well, they have done work on a few old cars of mine. Their rollers have a reputation for being a bit on the conservative side.
I think you need to do more than 3 standard runs. As mentioned previously you should do as many as it takes before the figures level off due to the fluids in the transmission.

I think one thing is for sure, these cars don't make factory quoted figures. But, once my MAF fault and service is completed, and if my car made 370, I would be happy - ish, because then a remap, exhaust and filter, should take it nearer the magical 400 figure.
IF it doesn't make 370, then I too will be in hot pursuit of Audi UK, for answers. AT present I am just interested in what my car will make once the faults are sorted.
Hopefully between us all we can address AUDI between us.

iirc the MAHA is what Audi and BMW use...
as far as making the quoted 414, who knows? the numbers we've seen can't be interpreted...no Cf, no raw numbers, etc.
judging from the times/speeds magazines (and owners) have gotten from the car, imho it makes the 414 HP...
why can't the raw wheel torque numbers be shared along with the ambient conditions and correction factors?

The master tech I spoke with said they have Audi figures for what the engine SHOULD be doing under load. By capturing live data on a road test and comparing they can check what is happening. I would say, before you waste any cash on another dyno, get Audi to check this first
