Fitting a b7 back bumper to a b5
Fitting a b7 back bumper to a b5
After looking at the recent post regarding Interesting exhausts i was wondering how hard this was to do.
I can't be as easy as just swapping bumper's and having a new back section for the exhaust which is easily done.
I wonder how well the b7 bumper fits to the b5.
Has anyone on the forum done this?
Cheers Jules

RE: Fitting a b7 back bumper to a b5
I know it's been done on the continent.
I very much doubt it would line up properly
The best way would be to get both the bumpers, and then use the lower half of the B7, and plastic weld or whatever is best to mould the 2 together.
Plus you'd probably lose your spare wheel well, if you did go B7 dual exit exhaust anyway

I'm sure I remember the car was discussed previously on here. The owner had also fitted the B7 bucket seats.
The spare wheel well, or at least a large section, had to be removed to accommodate the pipework for the exhaust - can't remember details of the bumper.

Yeah its the rear diffuser bit that i like.
I did'nt even think about the spare wheel well, thats what
makes these forums so good.
Anyway i don't really need to spend any more money not untill i have paid for the retrim.
Still 4 weeks to go

I have seen one done with out cutting the spare wheel well.....it's over on SRS.....R055 HYP IIRC is the username. He's done a dual exit, without going into the spare wheel well. There are some pics over there.
IMO, I'd buy another B5 bumper, so as to not ruin yours totally incase it all goes pear shaped!

Are you talking about this

If so the B7 section of this is not a separet part of the the B7 bumper it's all one but it would be easy to cur off and plastic weld on to a B5 bumper I would have thought.

Look great although as Virdee said, it doesn't line up (far right) that would really annoy me!

As virdee and Docurley mention,i think the best way would be to plastic weld the diffuser
to a b5 bumper.
I think a project for early next year after what i have done this year.
I have another set of wheels to try tonight

Electricracer also has a twin exit exhaust on his B5 which goes around the spare wheel well. Think it's an APR system he has.
lol Virdee,you can talk
Its the same wheels you had that people didn't seem to like.
Some 19" bentley gt's (i think)My mate has just had them refurbed to a
very nice stantard and whats tempting me is the centres are painted a dark grey/gunmetal which i think contrasts nice with mine with the tints.
As you know they need pretty big spacers to bring them out nice but my hubcentric ones don't fit,so i'm trying to borrow some cheapo ones just to see what they look like spaced correct.
I'm not sure as i really like my wheels but the bentley's look better in the flesh than i thought.
The people that have seen them on prefer the bbs's but i think cos the bentley back wheel was set so far in.
My other dislike is bentleys are being done to death in the show scene but i've only seen one rs4 and that was yours Virdee.I'll try and post a pic tomorrow

LOL....!
The Bentleys as you say are much better in the flesh. No picture portray how they actually look, especially with the spoke going to the edge, and the curve of them.
The anthracite centres will defo work with your car.
Ideally they'll need around 25mm spacers, 30 if you want them to be proper flush. I had 15's on mine, and they were sitting in the same place as stock wheels.

No, I had normal H&R ones, which are suited to a 57.1mm bore, which is the same on the Bentley's.
Might be something to do with the taper angle on the hubcentric part, as I know this has caused some people agro in the past.
