most chippers claim +25 bhp/torque though, mine certainly felt more urgent than pre-chip

I guess some chipped cars could be quicker than seemingly more powerful cars if they rev quicker and hence get to high power range quicker

Took me a few minutes to wipe the grin off my face. I was very surprised with the result; was of course dreading the worst. I definitely didnt put any cheeky mega fuel in! :)

Bloody typical - we have come away with lots more questions than answers!!

As mentioned above it would be useful to view the corresponding dyno graphs for each of the runs listed above. Horsepower is only one of several measures that define 'good' performance. Torque and how/where the numbers are delivered in the rev range are equally if not more important than top end bhp.

Transmission oil definitely does play a part. It’s a shame we were limited to 3 runs per car (though necessary due to the excellent turnout) - At SSRR mine was creeping up on each run until about the 6th or 7th each time she went on the rollers. Charlie put this down to the oils being so thick they sap power until hot and runny.

Heatsoak may also have affected some. Mine only hit 411.9bhp first time round. The car had been parked up for 20mins following a spirited 120mile trip so was very warm. PG raised the theory so we tested it by running mine again after being parked up for 3 hours. She gained 5bhp and improved on each of the 3 runs.

Out of curiosity what were the results of the the Wynns test and what happened with Klauster's remap?

The coking up of higher mileage cars (so to speak) seems to be an early impression especially if you throw in APMs old 80k car making 303bhp on another r/r,see if it stacks up when more info comes in.Im not shy at getting my hands dirty but cant say spending £30+k and then having to do a top end strip and decoke appealls,Its no suprise the top performer is an MRC car they really do seem to know there stuff.I dont believe many cars actually produce manufacturers figures but over 100bhp missing is not acceptable on nearly new premium sports car.On another thread the build up in the inlet chamber is blamed on cam timing overlap to keep the greenies happy,i wonder if this can be dialled out somehow? This is of course IF the theory stacks up!

Re Wynn's .. we only did Marcus's car .. and we did not put it on the dyno ... maybe next time ...

If you guys can be bothered .. can you post the age of your oil in your car .. this seems to be a factor ....

The one thing that has really got me puzzled is that mine and Robs cars have had pretty much the same treatment. Robs car has about 5k more on the clock but the major difference is we know that Robs car has a pollished manifold and has been de-coked. Now my car without doubt will be as dirty as hell inside so does this mean that coking isn't the huge problem that we maybe believe it to be with regards to power loss? Dont get me wrong I'm not saying for one minute that the coking is exceptable or that long long term there are problems to be had from it, but just going on the basic facts of my car verses Rob's it would show that it maybe isn't the only issue with power loss????

I have to say though I was very surprissed to see some of the results especially from remapped cars. What I will say is it all takes time and you need to work on it. Both myself and Rob have spent time and money working on custom maps with lots of Dyno runs and improving the airflow both in and out of our engines and are now pushing what Audi said the car would produce. Is it wrong that I was over the moon at hitting 413.2 when the reality is that with the improvements and money spent my car had gained around 45 bhp so should be 460bhp. Either way I love my car and now it is a true 400 + car I'm happy with what I have. But I have to say if my car was standard and ran anything below 350 today I think I would be banging very hard on Audi's Door on Monday morning wanting some answers.......

I really do hope though that all of this doesnt take away from what was a great day with a great bunch of guys and what still are lovely motors!!

klauster,at the end of the day the only way we can know what our cars are about, is out there on the road..if like me you have had a run with a similar power motor in my case a new m3 if you keep getting battered you know something cant be right and visa versa.. on the trot back home could you see p-gs extra 40 odd horses??
