Viewing tomorrow ;)

Post by darrenswift » Fri Apr 17, 2009 8:42 am

Good morning all!
I've sat on this forum for quite some time, reading up on all the pros and pros of owning an RS6!
I'm going to look at this car tomorrow and wondered if anyone knew of it at all.

Good low mileage for the age, but it'll be due a belt change straight away (unless you get the dealer to do it for you). Its usually required every 40k. Make sure you talk to Grizz about what they should change cos not every garage will do a full job. Common parts are Thermostat, Pump, and make sure you get the FULL belt kit done inc pulleys etc.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I was pleased to hear that the cambelt has already been done (perhaps unfortunately by Audi), but I'll be sure to head up to Grizz for the replacement of DRC no douby, in the not too distant future! :)

Did they do the water pump and thermostat at the same time. They should do it but sometimes shy away.

I'll obviously have to check - is it easy to find out? I suspect they may have shyed away, but I can but hope!
Price wise, doe sit look good to you? Its certainly the lowest mileage example I've seen for a while. Additional images today show no signs of car park damage either, which is nice!

Sounds like a good example. Low mileage etc. But it is a saloon so they do usually fetch a bit less at market. Seeing as it looks a good one i'd say that it was a fair price. Ask around the forum though. The only way you can tell if the therm etc has been replaced is to look at the service reiept and see what parts were included. As for its past, look at its history and see what has already been done. If DRC has been an issue already then no suprises there. If not, then get it inspected before purchase. Mine has been changed 4 times in its life. Check for random repairs that you wouldnt normally expect. Get the garage to change the N75 and maf's if you can. Its a fairly cheap process, but they are commonly failing parts and when they are broken you can lose alot of power without really knowing it (speaking from experience). Good luck.

its a very good price at that mileage given its from a dealer . . .theres still alot of cars out there on forecourts at more miles at a few thousand more . . . having sold mine privately i simply cannot believe people are paying close to £20k for one. . . this however is sensible. . . if the car stacks up i'd go for it !

Thanks for your advice.
I'll certainly be giving the car a thorough look over tomorrow. This will be the fourth one I've seen.
I'll let you know how I get on!

I was happy to pay c£20,000 for mine in January (and would still now) albeit I don't think I would find another like mine.

It was from an Audi dealer and it was "as new" with only 3,300 miles, one owner and garaged from new, FASH, 3 year warranty, all the options (solar sun roof, etc)...................

Whilst depreciation on these cars has been savage (like many other large engined cars) due to poor mpg, high emissions, reputation for DRC problems, current economic climate and has high running costs, when I consider the cost new and the capabilities of the car, I for one am quite happy...........after all it's only money and you cannot take it with you.

If you worried about depreciation and/or running costs I really don't think that we would all be running around in RS6's so buy it and enjoy it ! :D

I'm certainly not worried about costs, but would clearly rather have had all the necessary work done already ;)
I've got a good feeling about this one...!

That looks to be a good car, but having had a bad experience with a previously tuned car, I'm going for a standard version this time.
I'm sure the seller of this won't have any trouble selling it, especially with those extras. Good luck to him.
