Yep - that's the spec for the US RS6, which has been avalable since March this year. Is it of any great interest to us?

Well, it does have the gear ratios which I didn't know until I saw that, and from that I've been able to find that the gearbox is most likely a ZF 5 HP 24A gearbox, designed for front/all wheel drive. This means that even if it would physically fit, the A8's wonderful 6 speed box wouldn't go in the RS 6 as it's designed for rear/all wheel drive. Bang goes another daydream.

Still, there's always the one about a turbo version of the 4.2 in the A8, and the other ones involving supermodels, celery and 10 yards of wet knicker elastic...

Yep - it's definitely the 5HP24 box. See here. But which torque convertor? Neither the W260, nor the W280, appears to have sufficient torque caoacity, and the W280 appears to be too low on max engine speed rating.I still think that the best box option would be the DSG-type box that there are rumours about being adapted to the RS6 - possibly the box from the Veryon or Gallardo? There are supposedly several variants of the ZF gearboxes, and manufacturers are alledged to sometimes 'sweet-talk' ZF into making modifications to the boxes. The 5 HP 24A is a slightly different version of the 5 HP 24, I think one of the differences is fwd/awd output layout.
