RS2 Coil Packs

Post by darkhorse1210 » Thu Apr 09, 2009 9:32 am

Just had the spark plugs, fuel filter and new main radiator fitted this week, the car is slowly starting to feel like it should (cambelt, all fluids etc done a few weeks back).

Anyway a couple of advisories from the guy servicing the beast. He mentioned the coil packs and seals needed replacing in the near future. Does anyone know where thewse can be sourced and what the likely cost involved is.

Thanks

coilpacks can be bought directly from beru and are much cheaper.

i had bought mine from vagparts once upon a time and the price was fantastic. In any case they are even cheaper from the german ebay than audi dealers

Nah, Autodeutsch in Miles Platting (Manchester).

No way I'd be keeping this beast on the road by a taking it to an Audi dealer.

it's the make of the coilpacks that audi uses. but if you find them directly they are quite cheaper

Well, I ended up winning a coil pack on EBay from a very helpful lad from Somerset, not checked the condition yet but he claimed the pack was off a car in Germany that had only covered c.20k miles. All sounds very promising but will have to report back once fitted.

Does anyone have any experience of renewing their coil pack and if this procedure noticeably improved engine efficiency/performance?

Coil Pack now fitted...visually it's like new, really transforms the appearance of the engine bay.

Think I was very lucky to have landed that one as haven't seen one for sale since.

Just that wiper motor to sort and the heating...Al I'll report back on the motor once I've had chance to have a 'twiddle'

Here's the quote of the week. When I took mine to the local Audi stealer to see if the auxillary radiator was available the chap said "RS2 whats that we never made one of those it started with the RS4". At the same time their mechanibles were creeping over to the 2 with a look of wonderment to why this bloke had bothered to put big red brakes on an "old 80".
Bless 'em and they wanted to charge £480.00 to do the tracking (I got carried away asking questions). I left quickly.
