B7 Rear Brakes with ECS Front Brakes?

Post by don » Sun Apr 05, 2009 9:52 am

My question is are the B7 RS4 rear brakes compatible with the ECS Front Porsche 6 piston brakes?

I have a set of ECS Front Porsche 6 piston calipers with 352 x 32mm slotted and drilled discs. I note the standard B5 disc size is 360 mm, B7 is 365 mm. I am assuming the slightly larger pad area here probably makes up for the slightly smaller ECS discs compared with OEM.

I am wondering if it would be ok to use B7 RS4 rear brakes and discs with the ECS system given the B7 has 324 mm discs, standard B5 discs are 312 mm.

I am concerned about brake bias but assume the rears probably don't do enough as it is and with the 6 piston brembos I probably now have more forward bias anyway. I also have PSS9 supsension and H&R fat bars so the dive on my car is a lot less which I'm assuming means this affectively creates more weight on my rear wheels potentially increasing the rear braking capacity.

I would be interested in people's comments. I have access to a a set of rear B7 RS4 brakes at a reasonable price but am uncertain whether they will be compatible given I am using the ECS system on the front.

The other question is will the B7 RS4 disc work with the B5 caliper with suitable bracket?

I note there is a RS4 rear caliper bracket which I assume might offset the caliper?
