P_G,

The same issue plagues the 2.0 (T)FSI community as a quick troll through the forums will attest.

Here are a few links link: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4181184 & http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4310099

They are ahead of us in dealing with it.

BSH even have a WMI system for cars: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4248146

I have enquired about tweaking the application for the B7.

Guys,

I have spoken to a friend at Audi HQ this morning and expressed my concerns about this problem. He is going to look into it and come back to me on Friday.

Can I ask that you leave this with me for now as my contact at Audi is very good one and I know I will get an honest reponse!! Rather than everyone speaking with dealers etc. cheeRS

Obviously i'm keen to solve this for my own car but also get to the bottom of it for all our sakes.

Will let you know as soon as I do.

regards

Jim

had my car in audi blackburn yesterday, finally they agreed on the DRC knocking noise as technician saw a small leak. Anyway also mentioned the intake manifdold and valve buildup to the technician , he did gave me some additive in an audi bottle dotn know what they use but its some general stuff they use at VAG. Its had a part number ,does anyone know what they use?

SR71, I am sure there are people who have this issue but like DRC it is forum members highlighting it and are they a proper representation of the total FSi engine ownership?

Much like the DRC issue I suspect there will be another fob off by Audi and given the work involved with assessing this latest potential problem and thereafter whether it does have a demonstrable and significant effect on engine performance it is fraught with pit falls.

I will be able to shed light on whether the buildup affects performance shortly

rAudiguy,

Whats the scoop with Audi then?

Let me guess - they've acknowledged its the deposition thats robbing us all of nigh on 25hp, they're going to pay for a clean, port and polish each and offer us all some compensation for all the trauma in the interim period of wondering whether or not our cars really are faster than a E92 M3?

Excellent.

APM's old car only made 303bhp on the Rollers on Saturday!

LOL........ not exactly words to that effect!! As it stands at present they don’t see it as being a major problem if it's not effecting the drive of the car, i.e misfiring etc. What they are looking to do is open up a RS4 they have with around 20k on the clock and see what's going on in there.

But unfortunately for now they don’t see it as a major problem.

I questioned that in the long run it would get worse and damage the engine?? the reply was that Audi would be more worried about the effects of spraying substances such as Wynns or remapping the cars in the long run far more than this...... Of course a very PC reply and to be fair I suppose to some extent true of course.

I have to be careful about what I say but I'm disappointed.

B*llocks!

Although remapped, my car is only pushing out 17bhp more than Audi say it should! Well within safety tollerances that would have been built into the engine IMHO.

APM's old at got 303bhp?! With 80k on the clock I wouldn't be that surprised if it does turn out to be at the flywheel....

You will be pleased to know I plan to remove the inlet manifold from APM's old car at some point this week...

Going to get it checkout out first if there are any obvious reasons as for producing 303bhp, having owned and driven many very powerful cars I can honestly say it doesnt seem like a 303bhp car to me but thats what the graph says!

It was 303bhp at the flywheel!

The other 12 cars running (B5's, C5, C6 and a Porsche) on the day all produced expected figures, so i've no reason to see why the B7 result would have been inaccurate.

My B5 produced 411bhp which was only 3bhp off the figure calculated by dividing my peak MAF reading (which I took during my RR run) by 0.8. A rough rule of thumb MRC use for the B5's.
