Charged for work which was not done :(

Post by Riz_RS4 » Tue Nov 04, 2003 6:50 pm

Paid £17.24 incl parts and labour to have two small bulbs changed in my 3rd rear brake light... found out today that they are still out

Ive always thought that the work carried out by my dealer was to a standard, there prices arent exactly cheap!

I`m very anger.... i know is not even £20.00 but thats not the point, its the principle.....

What shall i do

That kind of thing blows your confidence in anything your dealer does for you. If you are sure, I would definitely take the car back and get an explanation from them. The least they can do is the work they charged for, and refund you the money.

I make a point of checking every job that my car has been in for now, before I leave the dealership if I can. I'd recommend this as if you haven't accepted the car back or driven it anywhere then there is no argument over responsibility.

Good luck

Yes i usually check all around the car at the dealerships for dents and damged to the bodywork.... problem with the light was i didnt have anybody to look from the rear...... dont get my wrong Audi make wonderful car`s but the service / dealership side is really getting to me...... maybe Audi wont get my hard earned cash for a next car...... Riz,

I dont think you should have much trouble getting them to sort this for you, just nip in and they should do it while you wait. I have one guy on the service desk who seems to get things done for me, won't talk to anyone else. Bit of a bugger because he has just shifted to the dealer over the other end of town. Well worth the travel for the service I get though.

At the end of the day It seems to be not what you know or who you know. But how you know them!

Riz,

Always go back to the dealer if you're not happy with the service and escalate thru Audi UK if the dealer still does not meet your requirements. Don't forget that you have paid for service network up front in the price of your car.

Ironically I had a similar sitation recently. I asked for a bulb to be replaced and there was a similar discrepancy. But mine was that they had changed the bulb but not billed me for it!

I think you know where I get my car serviced...
2001 Silver S4 Avant
AmD remap, APR R1 DVs, APR bipipe, Full Miltek exhaust
H&R coilovers, AWE DTS, Porsche front brakes, Short-shifter, 18" RS4 replicas
Defi-HUD boost gauge / turbo-timer (with afterrun pump modification), Phatbox

Yes to be honest its a easy mistake to make eventhough the service person mentioned that they had i hard time getting the boot cover off this is the second time two bulbs have gone... maybe a doggy bulb unit caused the two to blow again?.....

Went to dealer`s today only to be told they are too busy..... so its now booked in to be looked at next sat.... also they have broken the engine cover like the RAC man did last time..... i changed my DV and in doing so have given the dealer a reason to question the broken engine cover if i was to claim........ customer service my

Makes me wonder why i bother paying the high prices at the dealers... they cant even do the work right....

Broken Engine Cover
Damaged Boot Hatch Cover
Installations & Bulbs x2

Pretty poor in my opinion.

Yes your right, the public should know... maybe we should have a dealers star rating sticky post that everyone can fill out, kind of like a poll.

I will not post my dealers name just yet, once i get the customer service call to ask if i was happy with the service and got that out of the way then i will say.

To be honest i`ve lost faith in the Audi dealership system and this obviously will impact the choice of my next car!

I`m sure BMW dealers dont have the same issue`s?

Hi Riz
If you want bad customer service - buy a Merc
Every time we visit a dealership with my wife's car it ends in tears.
Believe me Audi are good at CS compared to others

No it isn't just one Merc dealer its ALL of them

Had quite an interesting visit to a vauxhall dealership once after having a car serviced with them, ended up with the police being invloved and a write up in the local rag, very funny!

Wosrt dealership for customer service I've encounetred though has to be Porsche/JCT600 on the Silverlink (dont mean to name and shame, but these guys are fecking useless). Took them 6 nearly 7 weeks from dropping the car off to do a cambelt service and change a clutch master cylinder and not one phone call!!
Too much is bad.
Plenty is better.

True Merc dealers are the worst.......

Besides somehow i dont think a Merc would suit me much
The impression i got from the dealers i rang regarding a warranty extension was not good either... most of them quoted rocket high prices... ended up buying from my local dealer due to lack of choice

A have a few issues i need to clear up before i start mentioning dealers names etc..... ive got a feeling that not all customers are treated like this but only a minority..... im sure if it was a good percentage of customers Audi UK would do something about it.

no sure about merc being the _worst_ the hassle I've had with EVERY alfa dealer or local specialist is unreal! the trouble with italian stuff is not build quality, it's customer service & parts backup!

my 2p anyway
