An even cheaper sub 70k miler....
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/953502.htm
After last week's Noggy for (69k - £14975) this one has now cropped up for £1000 less.
As with the Noggy you do need to see it to firmly value it so don't despair if you have a mint 69k miler necessarily but I don't recall cars at this mileage being under £15k before which weird when cars have gone up a lot since Xmas.
A report by BCA Auctions says that average car prices have increased by 17.9% since Oct 08 with prices rising for the fourth month running.
I wonder if the fears relating to cam wear are putting people off buying these cars? I know I went off 996s when I heard about their cylinder liner problem.

RE: An even cheaper sub 70k miler....
all cars are going back up or stablising...apart from RS4's!!! WHY! It's not good for a potential seller (ME) and 996's are creeping backup it seems (Turbos anyway).
Brilliant call Friday night (21:30!!)
"Can I come round and look at the car now?"
"Its pitch black pal - are you sure"
"Ok...can you go outside and rev it -I want to hear what it sounds like...my mates got one and it goes grrrr tsss grrrr tsss 'guy making a exhaust sound and dumpvalve noise' "
"Err no mine doesnt tsssh on gear change - tell you what ring me back tomorrow if you want to come up"
Brilliant. If he tips up with near 16k its a done deal...however I get the sneaky feeling he may not!

RE: An even cheaper sub 70k miler....
nige - I reckon so!!! I wasn't rude though as you never know - its that difficult to get potential buyers - Ive even responded to a guy from sweden who OF COURSE cant get to see the car but will send a middle man round to view and pay, including shipping costs with a bankers draught. not dodgy though..oh no.
I have the same response to all those - Bring me cash, i'll pay it into my current account and then I will give your colleague the keys to the car...funnily enough not one reply!
FAZs3 - Its on PH and trader. I have to say though - pictures are CRAP! Must get round to taking some more.....

easto, Mate of mine advertised a Cosworth on PH ( UK based ). It was eventually sold to a guy in Norway - he asked a UK based Independant mechanic ( who knew Cossies inside out ) to view the car and bought it based on his feedback. He then flew over to the UK, drove to the docks, spent a night asleep in the car at the docks, then drove back over to Norway. So you never really know who is genuine and who is not !

Re: An even cheaper sub 70k miler....
I don't think there's anything particular to explain this other than it's a small market (30 or so for sale at any one time) made up of owners with different levels of investment / motivation chasing a handful of less-than-motivated buyers (me included).neckarsulm wrote:http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/953502.htm

It's now possible to choose from two cars circa 60K - 70K miles, one at £20K, and another at £12K. I'm sure, like with house prices, it's reassuring to think your investment is holding up well but ultimately price is a indication of how motivated you are to sell it (and someone to buy it)
RE: Re: An even cheaper sub 70k miler....
Very true. I'd be very wary of the reasons why a car like this is going for 7k under other cars of similar mileage though. As said if the buyer is in financial dire straits and needs some readies then they will sell at whatever they can for a quick sale.

RE: Re: An even cheaper sub 70k miler....
Plus, for a car that's this old, out of warranty and capable of giving some nasty bills, buying a low-price one is as much as an insurance policy against further financial disasters as buying an expensive one. It's not as if the interiors shred themselves after 50K miles after all.
