Was talking to a tyre fitter after laser wheel alignment and he said they angle the front tyres inwards by about 10 degrees as a matter of course which may account for the fronts on most getting worn on the inside.

Wasn't there a post somewhere about Wheels-in-Motion who could, during alignment, offer to set the handling for either 'Performance', 'Fast Road' or 'Tyre Life' which varied the settings (obviously)?
Actually, just found the thread here:

Interesting read and will be going to these guys soon as I get the chance.

10 degrees? Are you sure? That sounds like an awful lot! But you're right in that by setting a little amount of toe in to the front wheels will take some of the straight ahead loading off of the inner edges. They really shouldn't be wearing out the inner edges excessively more than the rest. Although the way the car is used will have an effect. If the car does lots of motorway miles any setting that loads the inner edges will be exaggerated.jajwyatt wrote:Was talking to a tyre fitter after laser wheel alignment and he said they angle the front tyres inwards by about 10 degrees as a matter of course which may account for the fronts on most getting worn on the inside.

I have the same problem in every set of tyres I have had since I got the car 4 years ago. I have had the alignment checked. The wear is caused by the the stance of the car of the road. ie. the valgus angle of the wheel on the road, combined with its weight and power steering. It is usually symetrical in all tyres, but worse at the front.
