Soft wheel exchange

Post by silversurferRS4 » Fri Mar 20, 2009 11:59 pm

I have 4 'soft' wheels which are still in perfect working condition (round) but a little scuff (not much). These will be spares soon as I have the B7 19".
I wonder whether Audi will replace them for the 'hard' wheels despite them not being bent so that I can sell them as new after?
Would anybody buy them as they are on lifelong warranty to be replaced if they get bent?

Audi will only replace them if they are bent and have little signs of scuffing/kerbing.

The warranty is against the car, not the wheels so if your RS4 already has had 4 replaced for hard and you roll up with 4 soft wheels Audi will work this out!

I'm assuming they are the original set of wheels and he hasn't had them replaced with the hard wheels?

Does Audi replace all 4 or just the bent ones if they are from the original car and not been in an exchange before?

They don't give things away without good reason any more so last thing I heard they only replace wheels that are buckled beyond a certain tolerance and then only if unkerbed and only if car is on soft wheels with no record of having been changed to hard.
Also they only replace them with hard wheels now after which you are on your own, no more freebies!

What if 1 wheel gets bent each month...Will they replace each 1 in turn until all 4 are done?......Or is it they will allow 1 exchange only and subsequent bent soft wheels are excluded after the first exchange despite being on the same car....IYKWIM.

I can't recall if they will fit new hard wheels and leave old soft wheels on the same car - to mix them seems not ideal.
They will only fit hard replacements so you may find that they will replace all your wheels in one go to hard.

two of mine were bent - outside tolerance and two were within tolerance - all four replaced at the same time, but it was a struggle

FYI - Audi replaced all of my 4 soft wheels 3 years ago and they were not bent or scratched.

They will replace all 4 soft wheels with hard ones regardless of the damage (or not) to them as long as the car hasn't already had them replaced (with hard ones) before.

Looks like its down to who you deal with, and dissapointingly there STILL ISN'T a consistent approach to dealing with this issue.

I was offered to either have the bent wheels replaced for new soft wheels only, or replace all the wheels for hard ones, and then no further replacements.
I took the last option, as I could be bothered dealing with this issue repeatedly, even though the hard wheels arent immune to bending, albeit to a lesser extent.

Good luck.

Just got back from the stealers with my new hard alloys. They took my tyres off and fitted them to the new alloys and then decided to check if my original wheels were bent!
Overall only took 3 weeks to arrange with a few phonecalls.
All in all I am very pleased with the service that I received evn though it took a call from Audi UK to get the ball rolling with the local stealer
