Post by b7rs4saloon » Mon Mar 09, 2009 4:19 pm

Just got an 07 plate RS4, no nav, so it was a good price.

What is involved to retro fit? Seems there a re a few on ebay?

Easy job proviuded your RS4 has a Symphony II (double DIN) radio - did it on my RS4 the day after I collected it.

You'll need:
1) an EU RNS-E
2) a map DVD
3) a wiring adapter - you'll need a Bose one since all B7 RS4s come with Bose and you might as well get one that supports a CD changer (also used for the iPod interface) and phone support.
4) an antenna adapter.
5) a hockey puck GPS antenna.
6) a set of 4 Audi radio removal keys.
7) access to VCDS (VAG-COM) so that you can recode the instruments to make the nav instructions appear on the DIS, and check/correct the coding of the RNS-E.

Took me less than an hour from start to fully fitted and decoded.

If you have a single DIN radio then you have to convert the centre console to double DIN which adds a few hours to the job.
