I'd be concerned about the vinyl trapping moisture underneath and holding it against the paint - it wouldn't take much of a hole in the paint for the mositure to be held against the bodywork and even though it's galvanised that could lead to rusting. And you can be 100% certain the Audi anti-corrosion warranty will be voided by vinyl wrapping!
Gone: 2006 B7 RS4 Avant (Phantom Black)
I doubt Audi will a) know about it b) carePetrolDave wrote:I'd be concerned about the vinyl trapping moisture underneath and holding it against the paint - it wouldn't take much of a hole in the paint for the mositure to be held against the bodywork and even though it's galvanised that could lead to rusting. Does the warranty mention such things as voiding the warranty by doing it?
As for vinyl wrapping, its a proven method used on commercial vehicles which has been around for years. Provided you follow the guidelines supplied, and remove it before it gets over 3 years old, there are no negatives to having it on my paintwork, saying that I could be proved wrong in time, although I'd imagine it will stay on the car 12 months.
Id rather do this, then buy a white car in the first place and have all the hassles of trying to sell it
I know someone who had a CSL wrapped and when it was removed (about 3 years later), some of the laquer came off the car, and the paint had gone a type of yellowy colour where the vinyl adhesive had absorbed into the paint - and to top it off, there were small razor blade marks where they had cut the vinyl around the akward areas. In the end, he had to have the whole car resprayed back to the original colour. Just thought you should know the downside when it comes to removal - it actually put me off doing my car as none of the wrapping companies would actually offer a written guarantee stating:- "There will be no damage caused to the cars original paint work when removing the vinyl"
Looks good though!
