Perhaps they should next try replacing it with a new RS6? See if that solves the problem!

Anyway to cut another long story short, a DISS report on my car has now been submitted to Audi UK - a bit different to ''cannot help further''.
I can understand the frustrations that people have with dealers; I have felt this today. It's a shame, just shades the experience slightly of driving such a wonderful car.

Not in my experience!! All seem below par until you find one that actually care's about the product and customer. For me this is Camberly Audi, Didn't buy my car from them in fact only went there on recommendation from this site. But will only be taking my car there from now on!But then are the dealers for most other marques any better?

I agree with that analysis.Audi Dealers seem to be, in the main but with a few exceptions, a pretty useless bunch. They don't understand the cars, they don't understand customer service and they repeatedly tell lies.

To me, it sounds like Audi aren't really doing any failure diagnosis, they're desperately replacing parts hoping the problem goes away.
I wonder if an Audi independent specialist's opinion might be worth seeking in the interim.
They might consider it a challenge to solve a problem Audi can't?

Well, my DISS report was sent to Audi UK, who have replied to the Service Manager @ my local dealer, and said they couldn't find any faults...(by the way this was after a further 3 calls to the dealer who kept saying they would call me back - so I decided to drop in personally...
He stated to me that he had heard of no other RS4's with such problems. Of course that was not until I mentioned a car or two in the Midlands, to which he then admitted he knew of of at least one car with such a problem!
His only solution was for me to take my car to a Rolling Road and get some power output figs etc?? - at my cost of course.
Because of the high speed hesitation that I'm experiencing, there is nothing further they could do.
I'm sure it is 0080.
He stated that they could upload 0090 - this was for making a car run hot & for vehicles doing lots of town work???????????
Honestly (& I hope that some ****ing useless Audi Banker is reading this), if this is the manner in which you/Audi treat your customers - then I hope this credit crunch catches up with you & gives you what you deserve.
Needless to say that I will be contacting Audi UK tomorrow again.

With answer to the above question, the Service Manager then asked me what version I was running..... this was my question to him!...(& I still remained cool - must be getting old).Do you know if you are on ECU version 0080 as well?

Useful Info....
I commented on this post a few months back; that my B7 was suffering similar hesitation issues, eventually leading to a new engine being fitted.
I wanted to post that the problem that was eventually found was that one of the manifold flaps was cracked. Apparently this is has been found on a number of cars.
Well it's a very different car now.. and I don't have to fork out for valve cleaning as it's all brand new! I am however considering selling, so if anyone fancies a Misano red saloon with a brand new engine and brakes all round.. let me know... could be the RS4 bargain of the century.

Can you be more specific, i can't imagine that 1 cracked manifold flap would give such a profound effect?
could it be the whole bank??

I'll double check with them, but the report was that one of the flaps had a barely discernable crack in it redering it "not fully operational; leading to restricted airflow above 4000 rpm. It was getting progressively worse, so I imagine the "crack" was getting bigger.
I'll try and get hold of the info that was returned to the technical centre, and post it. It was 6 months suffering for a very small problem, and one for us all to be aware of.

Not sure if this is the same issue but when pushing hard, I get the hesitation after gear change.
i.e. car pulls hard through second to say 7-8k, change to third, release the clutch and the engine hesitates for about 0.5-1 second then starts pulling hard again in third.
I feels like the ESP has come on but no indication displays on the dash.
Doesn't happen any other time... only after releasing the clutch when pushing hard. Mainly 2nd>3rd (but I'm pulling 7+k in the higher gears less often)

I hate to say it but that doesn't work either. I was driving yesterday with TC off all the time doing a spirited run to scrub my disks as I ma egtting dredded judder and pull from the front nearside, coincidentally the one whose holes are blocked up eith brake dust.
Anyway, digressing, I was driving along country roads with TC switched off and when I cam out of an adverse camber bend on to a straight raod and mashed the throttle into the carpet ESP stuck it's nose in and I got the same hesitation you talk about. Anyhting but a straight, true and dry piece of tarmac the system intervenes. It probably has a lot to do with why r/r do not produce the figures but we won't go into that one again given there is already 6 threads going on that subject!

I get the same thing when accelerating hard and changing gear, car feels like its bogging down and then takes off again! Probably lasts about a second but you can certainly feel it. Only happens at gear change though. I will check if its from 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th. This happens in Sport or not but have never put the electronics off as I think that is insane unless on a track
