Perfect Ride Height

Any suggestions on the perfect ride height?

I'm on H&R with standard 19" wheels. I've had a problem with adjustment on the H&R's were the rear offside wouldn't go up properly. This ment I had to go to 70mm all round to balance it off.

They've sent me a new coilover now so I should be able to get all the adjustment now.

Opinions and pics welcome.

I have the H+R coil overs fitted to mine. The rears are adjusted full up and the ride height is a bit too low and too soft.(see attached) I have given up talking to them about it. They just said if I wasn't happy I could buy some different springs from them. They also say no one else has had a problem. They sent me a picture of their TUV approval test car that they said was adjusted to its lowest, it sits about right, about 20mm higher than mine. I still dont know if i have all the parts as the package was open and no packing list or instructions inside.
I would like to know where you are measuring and compare to mine.

Yours looks like mine at the back. The highest the rear drivers side will go is 70mm from rim to arch. the other side will go higher. I've had make the rest match so it's now 70mm all round.

I've lowered every audi I've had but 70mm is too low.

I've been dealing with it through Fontain who fitted it. They got me a new coilover from H&R for the problem side but because I never got my car there within 2 days of the part arriving they said that they had to send it back or they'd be charged. I thought it was Fontain being a bit funny but maybe it's H&R.

Who have you been calling? Have you got the number?

I've never heard such bollox in my life! Had to send it back because you didn't get there within 2 days?! This seems ridiculous to me.

At this point, I'd be inclined to go to someone like wheels-in-motion who will be able to work out exactly what is going on with that shock and if necessary I'm sure they would be able to deal with H&R on your behalf if they deem your shock to be faulty. As a trade company specialising in suspension settings, they'd be able to request an RMA, giving a specific technical reason as to why the unit is faulty. A fair bit of hassle I know, but a more logical approach to resolving the issue.

I too have the H&R kit which Fontain fitted and I don't have any issues. I find it a nice height and very comfy over imperfections/bumps. I couldn't tell you what the height is as I haven't measured it, but it looks and feels about right to me.

I am planning a trip to wheels-in-motion myself soon, so I'll be able to eventually report back with what my suspension settings officially are.

They probably wont thank me for this, but they have done me no favours.The UK contact is warren.g@mswuk.com this was given to me by H+R Germany a lady called Yvonne Menzebach Even told me to lower the platforms to make it higher at one point. My package was split and they couldnt tell me what should be in it. For all I know I have some spacer missing maybe?? anyway.

The coil over 29482-4 is a LOWERING coil over.
The lowering range is approx. 30-70mm on the front and approx. 25-40mm on the rear (= the shock height settings I already forwarded).
So with the kit mounted it should at least be 30mm front and 25mm rear lower than original or even more.
If the suspension is raised higher than this, it might cause problems as the spring has not enough travel then etc.
The suspension should be definitely within the lowering range. Some like the front lower than the rear, some adjust it to the same height.
That´s everyones free choice as long as the adjustment measurements are what they shall be.

The kit itself is still a kind of fast-mover and we sell it to all over the world for years now without any complaint so far.
Just as an example: The attached picture uses the same kit. It is adjusted to the lowest position possible due to
the TÃœV approved heights and has even bigger wheels than original. This was also our test-car for the TÃœV and the customer
is still driving & loving it, even when he goes on holiday with his family and luggage.


All H&R suspension’s are TUV approved which is the toughest automotive examination body in the world, without this certification it is not possible to fit anything to a car in Germany !

So with H&R suspension, each and every kit has been tested to the highest standards to achieve this approval.

TUV approval combined with selling so many, means it is really just down to your preference of maybe trying to achieve the standard ride height, which we can help with the longer springs.

Me too... although they're a touch RS4... which in typical Audi fashion they've since put on every car going in their showroom.

I do wish that when they do RS4, RS6, R8 rims, they respect and only use the design on the one model instead of pimping themselves on any derivative possible to sell.
