good year f1 asymetrico tyres

Begging the pardon of the OP for this being OT...

I'm still on my OEM set (pzero rosso) and not only is the grip in the snow terrible, but tramlining is full-on..... what pressures should I be using for these?

IIRC 38 front, 36 rear.

BTW after my farce with Audi today they said absolutley nothing to me having 275's on my wheels..... but then it wasn't something broken that they could attribute to 'non OEM' tyres.

I changed to a set of F1's (255's) on Monday at the same time as having front discs and pads done. I have to say they have already transformed the car from the awful Conti's that were on before. I used to slide about all over the place in those but even in the current weather the F1's inspire more confidence.

Having just picked up the thread, my first observation was, 'what size were your tyres'?

You have confirmed that they are not the same one's as most of us are using...get a set of 275/30/19's!

I also bought my first set of F1 275's last year - and found them to be an excellent tyre, both road & track & in the wet & dry.

I had the PZero's from new, but prefer the F1's- so does the wife!

By the way, is anybody using spacers with their tyres?

And I've recoded the TPMS to 22725 to reflect the difference so I still get early warning of slow punctures - which I needed last week when I got a shiny new screw tight in the middle of the tread of the offside rear tyre.

New tyres often feel rubbish at first. They always need a bit of scrubbing in, then you've got 8mm of tread vs 2mm on the old ones so they won't feel so good in the dry, plus the old rubber has worn to suit your car's geometry. Spacers are generally not a good idea, and I wonder why driving enthusiasts mess with them. It can only take new tyres even longer to adapt.

Goodyear F1 Assymetrics are getting rave reviews, and so are Vredestein Sessantas, from Evo and Autocar. Rated higher even than the wonderful Mich PS2. I believe them. Vredesteins are a real bargain at £101 for my S4 in 235/40x18. I think RS4 sizes are about £120 from Camskill. That's what I'm getting next after the excellent Goodyear F1 GSD3

Yep, really enjoyed my f1's, and have the sessantas ready to go, at 118 per corner in 275/30/19 you cant fault it!

check out costco for ps2's they have a deal on. had a price of £870 for 4 x 275/30/19 the other day and i'm guessing 255 will be even cheaper. worth a shout if you really want mich's back on.

regards spacers not a good idea i think you will find that alot of people use spacers on 4x4 performance cars for the extra grip, secondly evo and autocar magazines im not a fan of and dont have any interest in some of the bo..ocks they put in their mags so they can give rave reviews as much as they want.

Agree with Marcus-RS4 - I have Issue 110 and there is a definite attempt at objectivity and some science in this particular review IIRC...

That said, go for the £85 Nankangs and let us know how you get on...

The F1's, Vredesteins and PS2's come at the top of most independent tyre tests too. I was cynical about EVO's test but go to some of the online tyre company sites and the german online review league tables say the same thing.

I am afraid I beg to differ.....Having the 275 Eagle F1s now for 3000 miles, I would prefer the 255 tyres. I used to get a heavy judder on the steering at 65mph, then this was partially resolved by the shockers being replaced. Now it is much better, but i am still getting light shakes on the steering at post 65mph speeds.
Have checked the wheel balances and alignment, yet the problem still exists... definately dont feel comfortable taking sharp bends at high speeds. Would love to hear back from anyone who has experienced the same problems, or anyone who has a solution for other than the tried, tested and corrected scenarios undertaken.

What pressures are you running as I occasionally get this if my tyres are too soft. Also a slight depressurised DRC gives this as I had similar issues when Audi had not charged ny DRC fully/ properly with feeling coming from the rear, felt like one of the tyres was unbalanced and wobbled.
