So we can presume the C6 RS6 has been a disaster for Audi? If so, at what point will they (and perhaps other marques) abandon their high performance model in the range and just produce economical 'standard' cars - with the range toppers just having higher specs?
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

Don't believe they will abandon their RS line, but the C6 is a total disaster. Wrong car at the wrong time and aesthetically designed by a team duller than those who designed the London Olympics logo

there will always be halo car's for all marques, its where they get attention to their brands and showcase new technologies. They are very rarely a cash cow.

I think Audi on the C6 jumped on the bandwagon of the RS 4. It's a great car and really stole a march on the M3, but the C6 is very nearly twice the price and not in the same league of handling (appreciate iv not driven it)

I think they should have, and probably will make RS's in smaller numbers to keep demand and thus prices up.

Can you really see anyone paying close to £35k for a TT-RS when you can get a mint low mile RS 4? and so it goes on

What are the running costs seriously? Fuel? Tyres? Dare I ask brakes?

I've heard that new brakes all around are like 6k!!!! I mean it's going to be alot of car for the money at say 40k BUT the running costs are those of a supercar aren't they?

Opinions and advice please.

Its 6k for the ceramic brake set, standard are around the 2500 mark so i was relaibly informed by an audi sales man i was try to blag a big discount + free ceramics off. It was a no go on the ceramics as they are only fitted to customer build specs, and he could only do me a deal on a pre built pre reg'd car. He was offering me a fully loaded Avant, 36 miles on clock, 20" rims and free roof rack (AS IF!!). Said he could do me a 14k discount, 10 from audi direct and 4 from the stealers. A tempting deal but like every1 else ill wait till they drop to sub 40k mark before i even think about it.
I really want to get a RS4 aswell, have the whole RS family, but mrs aint exactly enthusiastic about the idea :p

I'm starting to like the RS6 C6 and will want one in due course. Problem is it was priced over its market but think RS models have always been a marketing exercise to sell Avants so maybe its still worth it to Audi. The dealers probably aren't happy tho' as they have to have one on the books knowing there throwing away £20-30k.
