This has come up again, here's the figures from the DVLA.
There are 506 RS4s (only 2 of which were imports) manufactured between 2000 and 2002 that are still registered with the DVLA.

504 RHD registered between 2000 and 2002 which are still registered today.
400 is a figure I've heard before but I think it's out. Audi sold more than 400 and this is backed up by the data request I made.
Presumably the other 2 are left hookers (imports) depending on which continent they came from.

I have seen more than 2 RHD imports for sale, there are more than 2 LHD around on UK plates!
Could it be 400 officially imported and a number of unofficial imports, some of which are RHD?
Also does the word import at DVLA mean a car registered overseas previous to being used here as opposed to a grey import which was declared new in UK?
Having said that it seems weird that the 400 for UK were sold before they arrived in late 2000 but there are cars registered as late as March 2002 - which makes me wonder if they lashed up some more to meet demand.
Maybe the 400 is the figure we all recall because it was in all the original press reports but once the road tests stopped being published, Audi AG decided to up the UK quota?
