okay just had the following quotes for the next 12 months

£1750 from Audi for another 12 month warranty
£2500 annual fuel (thats the cautious side of the guestimate)
£850 next service
£1000 insurance fully comp with 500 excess


oh yes and the roadtax

Very difficult decision, depends on what you're really wanting to do longer term. What kind of car are you looking to go for instead??? I faced similar dillemma this time last year so I don't envy you at all as you've got to own an RS6 to understand what the experience is like. Truly a very special motor.

Very quick look at Audi and the dealers are now marketing used C5 RS6's with "approved used warranties" and advertising at about £15k for 70k+ miles £19k for 30k+ and £22K for 20+

Used M5's are selling for sub-20K now also. One mans bargain... as they say.

You have under estimated your servicing/maintenance costs, what about the 40k cam belt change at £1000+? ............Brake discs and pads?

I don't know what you paid for your car or when, but I think it's almost too late to worry about depreciation as most of it has happened already!

As Steve says, you also need to count brakes pads + discs, (and tyres too! )

There is nothing you can do about the fuel bill, but you can reduce the warranty cost by buying aftermarket like many have done, shop around for insurance, get a specialist to service the car instead of a main dealer, buy discs/pads from DSG Wagen much cheaper than Audi and self-fit, buy Vredesteins instead of PS2s etc etc.

if your car is standard you should be able to get a warranty for £1k from 3rd party

fuel bill - your still looking at least £1k if buy another car

service - £850 !!! go to Grizz or MRC

Insurance - is that the cheapest quote

Road Tax - its only £200something isnt it ? as in same as my previous x2 cars with half BHP

Depreciation - you've done the hard part, as soon as you buy another car you're gonna take another massive hit straight away

Obviously all the above depends on your financial situation and desire to keep the car; but if the latter is great and the former healthy, my advice is stick with the beast !

Every performance/luxury car has depreciated massively. Can't see the point of chopping it in for some mundane car that you're going to regret buying the week after, and which will still depreciate. Now is the time to be bold and buy that exotic that you've always wanted while prices are so cheap. [ that's exotic car i'm on about by the way..not exotic woman, they're still far too expensive to keep].
