I'd get myself along to my local Audi dealers and get them to:
1. Give you the latest Glass' guide price for your car with 20K miles on.
2. Ask Audi if theycould vouch for the condition of your vehicle (I'm assuming they serviced it).

Below is the glass's guide for my car

Audi S4 2.7 quattro Saloon 4d 2671cc

Valuation date: 27.10.2003
Year & plate: 1999 T
Mileage: 25,000 miles

Trade in - excellent: £ 13,350.00
Trade in - average: £ 11,800.00
Trade in - below average: £ 10,200.00
Retail price: £ 16,500.00

Should I expect them to offer the trade in value or the retail?...This is far off the Parkers guide quote which is more what I am hoping for

I am hoping they would offer in the region of £17k!!

They should give you the price it takes to replace what you've lost - and argue until you get it! Don't accept their first offer!
Bear in mind that you will have to wait a while for the pay out as the car may still turn up IIRC it used to be a month.

Best of luck mate and sorry to hear about the bad news,

Ben

Buy every car mag, loot. E&M and cut out all adverts for your car as ammunition to fire at them. They will only offer you the bare minimum they can get away with

You will be treated like a criminal, guilty unless you can prove otherwise - and they DO know more about you, your bank account and life than you do

Tread very carefully and think about your answers

Sorry to hear about the car !
Hate to be pessimistic I guess if it isn't found now it probably wasn't joy riders, so that probably reduces the chance of getting it back.
As already said, you should collect adverts to verify the value. Obviously go for dealers as they sell higher. This should be ample proof for the insurance company. Just keep refusing settlement until they reach a value that will allow you to replace it.
My missus had here mk1 Golf GTI written off by a drunk last year - it was mint with 53k on the clock. The insurance company started at £450 ! They ended up paying £3,500.
So there is hope with respect to the value.

Good luck.

Good advice guys...thanks

Have started to print off current S4's for sale on the usual websites for use if they start to get silly.

What really guts me is that my partner is due our first born any day now and i really do not need this at the moment and i certainly do not need the Insurance company to start their games. Even though my Insurance company will give me a replacement car, this will only happen if they find the car and it needs to go to a garage for work to be done. I explained to them my predicament but it fell on deaf ears. I hope they do not play too hard to get!!!!

Thanks again....Jem

Thanks Celsisone.....the keys were in my golf bag whilst I was having a drink in the clubhouse. We were in there for 15mins. As well as my clubs being stolen + 1 car, my friend clubs were nicked too.

I am a great believer in protecting your property and family and would go to the extremes if they were to break into my house. Sometimes you have to make a stand and to hell with the consequences........

Sorry to hear about that. However, bear in mind that the price you would get for your car if it remains unrecovered is almost certainly worth more than should it be returned to you and be classified as "stolen/recovered" (15-20% less than market value)

I have the cheapest tracking system I could find on my car to satisfy the insurers because if it was stolen I don't really want to see it again and face the finiancial blow of selling it on later as a stolen recovered vehicle.

A freind of mine bought (knowingly) a 993tt that was stolen/recovrered at a saving of 12k over book price for that reason alonw

Hope things work out well...

David,

If you car is stolen and then recovered after a few days (perhaps due to a tracking device for example), your car is not marked as 'stolen recovered' by the insurer. 'Stolen/Recovered' is where the insurer has already paid out for the theft and then the car is recovered at a later date.

PS Jem - all the best with the new baby mate - you dont need this car hassle at a time like this!

Bas&%$ds, I am gutted for you, It aint nice when this happens, not nice at all.
I'm in Sutton, surrey and will keep an eye out for you, but to be honest i think it may have gone abroad, as I cant beleive they would get away with selling it on over here, as it isnt like there are a thousand of these cars running around on the roads. Amazing how cheeky these thief's were, do you think they targeted your car? Were they watching your every move?

Anyway, good luck with the delivery of your new born baby, my wife had our girl almost 4 month's ago now, it will help take your mind of the car mate.
