Movit/Porsche rear brake set up

Post by MK4ASH » Thu Jan 22, 2009 11:57 am

Does anyone have any pics or diagrams of this set up on the car? It would be a doddle to fit the caliper at the rear but they are designed to sit in front of the disc so i'd rather do it properly. I'm trying to figure out the best way to fabricate the brackets as obviously they cannot be bought. (Not seperately anyway.) I've tried the Movit website but no joy.

I've stripped my car out and can see the few options that there is but just wanna get it right the first time with a proven method.

Cheers gents!

Wouldn't mind any info on this, as I've just bought the equivalent Brembo kit, with seperate handbrake caliper.

The rear up right has to be removed , The front face machined and drilled to allow the new caliper to be fitted. not a 5 min job .

Is this the case on the Brembo setup aswell? Or just Movit?

Is the machining needed to make the face of the upright square with the disc Grizz? The brackets i'm in the middle of sorting out have kinks in the right places to combat this so will hopefully be able to leave the upright on. I'm going to drill out the old splash guard holes to make a decent mounting point for the brackets.

Did you buy your handbrake set up as a kit Virdee? I havnt bought my handbrake bits yet. Looking in to R8 calipers but they are silly money for such a tiny caliper...

Managed to source a 2nd hand complete kit, both the actual brake kit, and the handbrake kit

Yes Brembo sell the 2 rear kits seperately....and around £2.5k in total!

I can't see no notes on Brembo site about modifying anything. Will find out soon enough though!

@ Andream88 - Thanks very much for the detailed pictures. They dont look how i expected so have a few more ideas now. Eternally grateful.

I ordered up my R8 handbrake calipers today so hoping by the end of next week i may be getting somewhere with the front and rear upgrade.

Cheers
