C63 AMG
I agree they are acceptable now.P_G wrote:I think C63's are fabulous. And as for the interior, personal taste says the Audi is still ergonomically better but comparing it to Ford etc, is that not a sign that Ford in particular have really upped their game on the interiors front? No shame in driving a Mondeo or an Insignia nowadays.
I recently saw a fantastic black saloon parked up near me...
I have to say, it has, to some extent, forced me to re-evaluate my prejudice towards Merc's.
And the idea that you can easily get 500hp from it....
Thumbs up.

All Merc *63's have the same engine - the C63's is detuned to 457bhp - the SL63 and CLK63 black series put out 507bhp from memory.
Drove the C63 last week and thought it was awesome! Drove an RS4 a few days later and thought it was even better, drove and M3 saloon today and think it's also excellent! But as an everyday car, I'd definitely have the RS4 - it's got the manic revving engine of the M3 (which is unbeatble at the top of it's voice), some of the sheer grunt of the C63 but superior steering and traction to both. Whether you're hammering along or pootling around town, the RS4 delivers. I want one!

my uncle is a big Merc fan having a fleet of them over time,
currently has a CL500 which replaced the SL55AMG, his partner has aCLK 500, he still has a 300ce 24v coupe with knocking on 1/4 million miles on it!! and an E 320tdi
I have driven his SL55 and bloody hell is it fast.... but what do you expect with a nuclear reactor up front?
would I buy an AMG? if I had any serious money to lose on depreciation then maybe. Uncle kissed good bye to 42 k in 2 years from the 55
I COULD PAY MY MORTGAGE OFF WITH THAT!!

Don't Drivers Republic have a drag race between the E90, E92 and E93 and the manual car is the fastest? My findings after owning the RS4, are; the New "MDCT" 7 speed box on the M3 gives it an edge in performance wherever it
is in the rev range, speed of change can be set too instant and responce follows, a sensation IMO.
Go figure!

I'll always take on a SL55 if I see one although you have to be in the right gear while he surfs his wave of torque...
SL65...different kettle of fish...
SL65 Black....ummmm.....

I have had my B7 for just over a year and have not really been a fan of Mercedes in the past. A mate works for a dealer and we took out a white C63 and I can honestly say that I never thought a Merc could sound like this. I love the 4.2V8 in the RS4 but the Merc noise is in a different league. The interior is disappointing with some very cheap looking plastic inside and a very dull place to be and the sat nav looks just plain naff to me. Overall the car has lots of road presence and looks very menacing. I quite liked the way the seats held me too a better fit than the RS.
The road handling is a cause for concern. The Audi really compliments the driver and on a 15 mins drive in the AMG I nearly lost the back end twice. Fun but my mate didnt appreciate it. Overall it comes down to what you want your car to do, your driving ability and I suppose where you live.
TBH, if I had the cash I would get the Merc but I cant complain as I still LOVE the Audi. Not a very decisive post but I thought I would share my experience.

This is exactly the reason why the C63AMG doesn't interest me at all - I value the safety and security of my passengers in all weather conditions, so this sort of on-the-edge (maybe even over-the-edge) handling makes it a complete no-no for me.vee8 wrote:The road handling is a cause for concern. Exactamundo! I had a DIESEL CLS courtesy car once and it was all over the show, the traction control was never off, and the power was nothing to write home about. Up here in wet and snowy aberdeen a rear wheeler would be a huge mistake. I really couldn't care less about how fast the AMG or the M3 are on the track, in real life they'd be in a ditch.PetrolDave wrote:This is exactly the reason why the C63AMG doesn't interest me at all - I value the safety and security of my passengers in all weather conditions, so this sort of on-the-edge (maybe even over-the-edge) handling makes it a complete no-no for me.vee8 wrote:The road handling is a cause for concern.
