QST sorted a similar situation on my car and they are nearer Southampton.

Doug changed my Cam cover gasket and Cam tensioner gasket along with a 10k service so hopefully that should have cured the mystery burning oil smell

Cam seal gasket is a common cause of seaping and in car oil smells.

Just had mine done for the same reason, and the gasket under the vvt thingy at the back.
Car still in bits due to a strange wiring noise, suspect fan coupling anyone else had that ?

New development something to do with tensioners/ damage to engine, oil leak was coming from r\h bank
