I was lucky enough to purchase a B7 RS4 with 17K on the clock (registered Jan 2007) on 20th Dec 2008 from Newbury Audi. As part of their 'used/approved' programme, the car got a 'multi-point check' and I got a copy of the report with everything ticked as being OK. I even asked the salesman about DRC and that I had concerns - this was at the test drive stage and he denied all knowledge of DRC ever being a problem!!
Now, just 13 days later, I had it booked in to my local dealer to fix a misfitted trim issue but asked them to check the suspension as well, knowing that DRC can be an issue. I asked if I could have a look under it whilst it was on the ramps and I looked at it with the service technician. Result? The LH front shock was plastered in hydraulic fluid, the front right was leaking and well on it's way.
Now you can't tell me that this has suddenly occurred inbetween me buying the car and now - I've only put about 400mls on it! It was clearly leaking when the 'multi-point check' was done, so they either ignored it and ticked it as OK or sat down and ticked everything as OK in an office somewhere without even looking at the car!
It bloody pee's me off! All this BS about Used/Approved it seems is a load of flannel. My local dealer has ordered all the bits needed and I've got the car booked in for later this month, fortunately it's all under warranty for now.
I've emailed the dealer I bought the car from demanding an explanation and I've also written to VAG UK, requesting that the multi-point check be repeated at my local dealer.
What a bloody sham!
