New purchase and a few questions

Post by V6Ben » Tue Dec 30, 2008 7:56 pm

Hi all.
Just recently purchased a 2000 S4 Avant having had a MK 4 R32 Golf. So far have been impressed with the car, although have not had a chance to really try it out/pit it against anything else yet.
In the past have always had naturally aspirated cars so quite fun gettin used to the turbo. Also as stealth as the 32 was, think the S4 avant is even more so, especially with my dog in the back! She's already learnt to sit with her back to the boot to stop herself headbutting the rear window everytime i tickle the fun pedal!
Don't know what other people think but i've found the seat's to be a little uncomfortable, not sure if it's just me but seems to push quite far out half way up my back?
The other thing is, as well as the car seems to be running, having read a few things on here it would appear that a healthcheck at Unit 20 might be worthwhile. Anyboby any idea how much this would cost?

health check is not expensive at all

best to give grizz a call - 0151 3366888

http://www.unit20.org/

mine felt decidely quicker after a new N75 and a new MAF plus a few reliability mods e.g. f-hose delete

re the seats - try setting the lumbar support off, switch is on the side of the seat near the seatbelt pillar. my gf does dislike the seats in mine, often sounds like a reason to upgrade to full recaros or pole positions :D

sounds like you are NW based - plenty of us around with vagcom as well so always happy to check for fault codes, fuel trims or logs

hope you are enjoying your new purchase

Cheers for that Matt,
I can alter the lumbar at the base but thats not where the issue is. It almost feels like the seat is banana shaped meaning it puts pressure halfway up my back, nothing major just not like the Konig seats in the golf which were spot on. May consider an upgrade to the full recaros as with everything depends how much they are and how easy it is. Might take you up on the old vagcom as it's all a mystery to me. Do any of you get together locally? I'm based in Bury

The seats are banana shaped :?

I found on my first A4 (and all subsequent ones) I needed to have the seat back less upright i.e. leaning back to provide support for the lower back. The lumbar support just doesn't help.

Hope this helps, it's a real pain in the....

NW meet - every 3rd monday each month, usually take up the vagcom lead and lappie. http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... torder=asc

or go to Grizz's - usually a few of the guys knocking around or having something done :D

recaros - replacement interior a la S4 option / RS4 will cost around £800 quite rare to come up. new recaro pole postions for a pair are around £900 to 1000

german ebay can reveal some lovely options as well but the price climbs!
