Headlight Knocked out of Place

Post by moog » Mon Dec 29, 2008 9:37 am

Hello all,

Looks as though someone has knocked into the front of my RS4, albeit fairly gently, and whilst there is no obvious damage to the body work (barring a v minor little scrape) it seems that the contact has popped the head light slightly out of its housing - the front drivers side headlight now sticks slightly out at the side rather than being flush against the wing.
Does anyone know if this might be easy to sort out myself, bearing in mind I have no practical skills at all, or should I leave it to the professionals.

Tks.

I thought the same after a minor bump last year, but it turned out that the beam behind the bumper was bent which was making the headlight stick out.

Get a decent bodyshop to look at it.

I managed to drop a bulb inside the headlamp itself and tried to take the whole headlamp off to remove it. Gave up in the end as it appeared to be a bumper off job.

I'm with PetrolDave, get someone to do it for you.

You wouldn't need to take the bumper off completely just lower it down slightly off its mounts. You may find it clicks back in to place just by pulling it back with your hand.
