ABS Button
ABS Button
Hello again,
anybody knows what does the ABS button on the console supposed to do? I figured it activates and deactivates the ABS, but my ABS still works no matter if the button is pushed in or not. I tested it braking hard from 40 km/h. Both times the wheels did not lock.
Any ideas?

RE: ABS Button
if you have an RS2 you shoudnt have an ABS button. Those buttons where available on the early B3 audis
RE: ABS Button
I assume you are talking about the button next to the handbrake. This locks the rear diff & disables the ABS for really poor grip conditions. It automatically disables @ 20-25mph ish. I have used it but do not try to turn any tight corners !!

RE: ABS Button
No, I am talking about the ABS button on the central console, on the set of button where you normally find the fog lights button, etc. Thanks for your replies.
RE: ABS Button
Never fitted to a genuine RS2. It was on the earlier 3b S2. What are the first three letters of your car's VIN ?

I think the C is unique to the Audi/Porsche tie up.

And hence unique to the RS2.DickyC wrote:I think the C is unique to the Audi/Porsche tie up.
You write it, you read it through, it makes sense and you post it.
Some time later you think about it and realise it didn't quite say what you meant.
I'm a wee bit too old for a career change to motoring journalism anyway, so I suppose it won't matter.

RE: Re: RE: ABS Button
well according to the decoder it does not mention that this car is NOT an RS2.I understand that this has to be WAC but the decoder mentions all the types of chassis.Funny thing is that he went to the audi dealers and they told him it is an original one!!
RE: Re: RE: ABS Button
All RS2 VINs start with WAC. Other audi models WAU. Does it have a white prosche sticker with a three digit number in the front of the service book. As for audi dealers ? do you think they are know anything about a 14 year old model ??. I am afraid this is not an RS2.

RE: Re: RE: ABS Button
yup you are probably right
RE: Re: RE: ABS Button
Yes,now it is all clear! My Audi is not a genuine RS2. It is a conversion from an Audi 80 Avant. Thanx people!
it was very popular in greece back then to make avants into rs2 since it was very expensive to get one.So i wouldnt think that it is a problem. i saw the car from up close, went for a drive with it. its fine.Dont notice it is not an rs2 unless you look at the missing sunroof or check the chassis number.
