Detailing - something not new?

Post by david7m » Mon Nov 24, 2008 2:21 pm

Hello

There seems to be a lot of detailing threads of RS4's etc appearing, some by site sponsors, some not.

Don't get me wrong, they look awesome, but they dont particularly start off too bad as they are nearly new cars! Apart from Hibs Avant detailing, are there any detailing pictures of something being 'brought back to life' that is on a car older than 18 months?

Dave

How much does it cost? Is it a fixed price, or hourly rate?

Usually a fixed price - you can get an rs246 discount with a few of the detailers on here!

Don't expect much change from £300 tho!

Ouch!

Not the right time of year/economic climate for that ;)

you could always ask good enthusiast who'll charge £100 to £200. They won't be insured but you have to be pretty negligent to do any damage.

I do mine myself. Its a lot of work (just corrected the passenger wing - the garage who did my exhaust had dragged the airline or something all over it causing a mass of scratches in the clear coat which I didn't notice until I cleaned the car LOL), that wing took me a good 30-40 minutes alone to get it looking good with a UDM, Megs pads and some Poorboys SSR polishes. True I am not as quick as a pro, but even then the thing is near enough a full days hard graft I would say. You can see where the costs come in though easily.
I have spent two days just cleaning the car inside and out before now without putting a machine near it - and it was Mikey Quattros car before I got it and you have seen his clean RS4 LOL!

Its a fair price considering the time, products, van etc., but still a lot if you know what I mean. I've always done mine myself, but lately have been getting way through washing and getting bored and wishing it was all over ;)

Clearly I haven't looked through all the threads, as there are lots of 'older' cars gettin buffed up ;)
