New dics all round or skimmed recons?

Post by Zimzzimmer » Mon Nov 03, 2008 8:08 pm

Anyone had experience using reconditioned skimmed discs as opposed to brand spanking new?

Audi quoted me 1300quid for discs and pads all round but understand Unit20 and the lads can also fit recons for less than half the price......

Can anyone speak from experience as I have always gone new??

Appreciate any feedback on this one

thought of re-skimming when I though my fronts were warped but then again its a 170mph supercar and IMO you want the best stopping power available. for the sake of a couple of hundred quid, personally I wouldn't bother and just get some new ones off ebay - there a few Audi / VW parts dealers that sell them at discount rates.

I have my local garage round the corner fit them. The owner drives a newish E55 so knows his onions when it comes to high performance cars and fitted some new front pads for £45 - Audi wanted £125 + VAT
