Please look out for my stolen car!

Post by EmmaH » Mon Oct 27, 2008 4:08 pm

Hi there,

I wonder if everyone would mind keeping a look out for a stolen Black RS4 saloon that was taken on 6th October. There has only been one sighting since and the Hampshire police could not keep up with it

The reg plate is CU06 MWO and it was stolen from the Reading area.

The tracker unit activated once the whole time, and so was a complete waste of effort installing it.

Are there alot being stolen at the moment? Has anyone else had problems with tracker?

Hi Emma,

So sorry to hear about this.

The RS4 is, i'm afraid, in the top 5 of cars stolen in the UK.
I've heard of this happening with Tracker before, one blip then it stops, i'm wondering if these pro car thieves have a jammer that does this.
The RS4 is supposed to be very difficult to steal without the keys where was yours when you had it stolen ?
Hope if you do get it back, it will not have been too badly damaged or has not been stripped for spare parts, while this country is SO LENIENT with criminals it will never stop.

I heard that RS4's are getting stolen so often now people are not buying them.

They stole the keys from the house and then drove the car straight through the front of the garage doors!

There was a steering wheel lock on the car and the garage was locked, i think that if the car is stolen to order they will get the car whatever all you can do is deter them. But for them to drive through metal doors they were pretty determained.

Yes it seems like the tracker was jammed or taken off, think if the gang is profesional enough they know what they are doing.

Surely they cant of stolen to order?
They must of been a right load of numb nuts because most garage doors you can open from the inside.
If they drove through the garage doors they would of damaged the whole of front end, roof and probably the boot too, so the repair bill would of been horrendous.
Probably used it for a crime.
Just pray you dont get it back cos it will be ruined.

Luckily I wasnt in the house, but there were 2 people in.

I just thought maybe it was on it's way to Cyprus by now. It's funny as my fiance hadnt been home for a week and then he came home randomly one night and it was all done...maybe he was being watched?

The garage doors were the electric ones that you need a fob for, it looked like they had an issue with it and so just drove straight through them!

I agree I think it may have been used in a job, but it's been 3 weeks now and they dont seem to have done anything with it.

Did the neighbour see or hear anything? most in fact all criminals do a pre reconnaissance of the property/victims before hand esp if its premeditated, did you see any one acting strange or suspicious in and around your area?

The neighbours heard the patio window being smashed and I think we kinda thought we saw people looking at the garage but you never know when you're being paranoid or not. They just needed the keys. I'm just disappointed the tracker was such a waste of time.

The problem is that installers tend to fit trackers in the same place on any given model (through laziness?) - so the tracker on an RS4 will probably be in the same place as the A4, S4 or RS4 that they stole before - and professional thieves tend to disconnect the battery and park the car in a metal container for a while until the Police can't be bothered to look any more and/or the tracker's backup battery runs down.

Trackers are too common to be a deterrent now - too many people know how to "defeat" them.

Tracker havent really said anything, they just said that 97% of cars that are fitted with a tracker get found. They seemed pretty uninterested actually. You dont need trackers fitted for group 20 insurance cars any more so the insurance companies too think they are a waste of time.

I think PetrolDave is completely right, they stole it and parked it up somewhere until the dust settled. They then bought the car out 3 days later and it was caught by the police on their number plate scanner at 3am in the morning and hasnt been seen since. :(. The Hampshire police tried to pursue it but had no luck.

And that's not the first time that Hampshire police have failed to keep track of a stolen car - a few months back they let a gang who had stolen several Audis & VWs get away up the M3 and "disappear".

Hmmm only way to keep them from having your keys is to lock them in a safe, or just leave them on the side and let the insurance pay out, the only 2 options! no use hiding keys as theives will use a key finder!
