I was offered £23,000 less than I paid on my RS4 cabriolet after 1 year and 2,100 miles. The car trade has gone mad at the mo and having weighed up the options I am sitting on the RS4 at least til spring 2009. Everything has dropped like a stone and unless you have cash the dealers can't deal.
The p/x offers in the last quarter of 2008 are going to be mad as given the recession the dealers want to liquidate stockand not take in a heavy lump unless they literally steal it which is what they tried on with me

I cant see how the dealers are coping, I would imagine that a majority of new car sales are through pex, if no one is pexing how are they surviving. Its the same with 2nd hand cars, all the used car sites are showing the same old cars as that were there 4 months ago.
The other problem is I dont see how they can stimulate it in moving again? Given a turn in the economy for the better, will they start offering better pex vals? better discounts? I honestly cant see me buying a new car any time soon, im just not prepared to waste that kind of money again!

But it's in all in one's heads, the media has alot to answer for in getting everyone paranoid and talking the nation into a recession. I don't understand the mentality of it all really, have our salaries changed? I am still on the same one as I was when I got my motor and won't be in any rush to sell it, fuel is on the decrease again which is positive move etc...

It's a strange old world we live in!

Prices are crap just now. Mine got upto £28.5k. Okay it is up on the miles but it is still very high spec...

I'll keep mine until at least until I've done an RS4/RS6 drag comparison....both being MRC stage1.

I noticed a few months ago that the used cars at the local BMW dealer are not as immaculate as they usually are. Seems like they are trying to maintain profit margins and turnover by sticking cars in the showroom that would have been traded on in the good old days...

Sorry Guys but at £2400 drop in book this month and dealers bidding at least £5k behind book I have decided to find a performance car that has also taken a big drop but not depreciating at the same rate - a late 996 911 Turbo with full aerokit and 911design 200 cell race cats exhaust. She is beautiful, in pristine condition and quick as fcuk. Virtually no turbo lag and full of torque.

Happy motoring - the wide smile has just got bigger
