locked out! help

Post by Mike159 » Wed Oct 15, 2008 1:53 pm

First of all hello once again everyone, I am back in s4 ownership.

Just got the red avant one that was for sale on here and I have to say what a lovely example and a credit to its previous owners.

I have been giving it a thorough going over today to make sure everything is as good as it looks. Did a boost leak test and found it to be coming from the F pipe area. Got the F pipe off without breaking the spider hose :D to find that to my supprise there is no split in the F pipe even though its orginal. The problem was the rubber sleeve over the one way valve was a loose fit so the valve was free to turn, so im guessing this is where the leak is coming from. I went to go to drivers door pocket to get out the new F hose to fit even though there is nothing wrong with the old one. And the doors have locked them selves with the keys in the ignition!!!!

Ive got the bonnet up so is there anything I can do with the battery or ecu etc. to trick the doors into opening?

I cant believe it I never work on the car with keys in just incase this thing happens but I completely forgot to take them out today :(

Hmmm, no way of getting in without breaking stuff that I can think of.

PM me if you're desperate and want a way of getting in with breaking stuff!

I would suggest taking it to a locksmith.

Contact your dealer they will provide a temp key to get into the car. They should be able to do this with the VIN number.
May take a few days and you need to provide proof of ownership etc.

LOL - Wouldn't that require getting into it first :D

Mike, if you have breakdown cover, they might be able to help.

All is solved AA man to the rescue! No damage he simply got a hook in and took keys out of ignition. I had to wait for a mate to get home from work who was in the AA.

Did removing the keys from the ignition unlock the doors?

No he got them on a hook and pulled them through the gap in the door he made with a wedge thing. Thankfully the door went back exactly as it was before leaving no trace its been done!

Same thing, and solutions, happened to Bushy and his RS4 at our Brands Hatch event many years ago.

Glad you got it sorted
