RE: Tyres

Hi LondonRS6,

Can you give me an update on the Sessantas? I am going to need a new pair of tyres very soon and just called in to my dealer and they recommended them and they looked really good. £150 per tyre all in is a really good price too??!! How are yours wearing\handling?!

Cheers,
Lig.

Good Deals on Tyres

Post by CJackson » Thu May 15, 2008 3:16 pm

Hi
You may want to take a look at the following site to broaden your quotes:

<www.tyre-shopper.co.uk>

Out of experience they offer tyres at least £100 cheaper than anywhere else. You just purchase the tyres online by specifying your car model/ even your registration plate and choose a fitment centre, date and time. When you arrive your tires will be there waiting with your name on it. No mess no fuss. No hidden costs.

Regards
Chris

Cheers Chris,

Just done a search, and on the model (RS6 using number plate search), they dont do any?? When the size is input the cheapest they can offer is £173. Premium brands start at £190.

Thanks anyway.

Tyres

Chaps,

I had 2, P Zeros fitted last November at the princely sum of £294 all in!

Just spoken to Roadwheels in Fleet where I bought them, as after 8K miles they'll need replacing soon and prices have shot up with more price rises imminent - they mentioned another 7% coming from Michelin

So, on a per tyre basis, fitted they're now

P Zeros - £209
Contis - £190
PS2s - £255
Sessantas - £192

They didn't have an opinion on how well any of them will wear compared to each other so at the moment I'm with LondonRS6 thinking I might try the Sessantas and see how they fair as they'll only be on the car for 6 months at best!

Hi Lig,

Sorry for the delay, i have done probably 500miles in the sessantas and i am impressed esp in comparison to say pirellis and contis. The sessantas are as sure footed in the rain as say the pirellis but they benefit from the less road rumble. In comparison to the conti contacts i find i get better traction on windy B roads, my conti's used to give/slip under heavily breaking. I think they are great value for money. It is a shame there are few distributors around the UK.

Eagle F1's. Swapped into these on my B7 RS4 & i rate them as high as PS2's, if not a little higher. Alot of RS4 owners have swapped over to these & have "gone large" & opted for 275/30/19 over the RS4 stock size of 255/35/19.

Assymetric's. I was £620 odd fitted but the size was 275/30/19 ZR 96Y all round.

They are currently running top in most tyre reports I have seen and are quieter, with loads more dry and wet grip than either the PS2's or P-Zero's. The later being plane dangerous in the wet..........
