car transformed!

Post by hunty » Sat Oct 11, 2008 9:06 pm

Just binned the factory fit Conti's after 9000 miles, even though they has a few mm left. My car is on SS+ and the last few thousand miles the car has been almost unbearable ride wise, banging and crashing about combined with very loud road noise.

Fitted PS2's and its like a new car, road noise has more than halved and its magic carpet smooth.

All the cars I have owned, I have never known such a transformation when changing tyres.

I know they are a little more expensive but I would suggest its worth every penny. They also seem to fit better on the rims and offer a bit more protection with the sidewalls.

FWIW I have had E36 M3, E39 540i, E46 M3 and on all three on tyre change went to Michelin Pilot Sports (whatever the highest spec type of it was at the time) from originals.

Agree that they rule, at a price.

To be fair, have had PS2s on my RS4 since new, so cannot offer comparison on this car. But did have a loan RS4 with PZeros on for two weeks. They didn't compare.

I would certainly like to try the 275/30 PS2s although i know folks rave about the Goodyears here.

If you're changing and going to retain the original size, hard to fault PS2s as a choice.

Have only heard positive things about PS2's. Yes they're probably one of the most expensive tyres, but they are supposed to be great.

Blimey - PS2s lasted 13k on my RS4, but PZeros only 9k - hate to think how short PZeros would last on an RS6...

You'll get that again if you go to assymetrics.

I've done nearly 3k on the asymmetrics so far and they look like they're lasting much better than the PZeros.
