After replacing the two drive shaft oil seals on my rear diff i am trying to get the input shaft out to replace the oil seal.
Having removed the prop shaft from the flange and securing the prop out the way. i am trying to get the flange/shaft out of the diff to get to the seal.
There does not seem to be a retaining screw in the centre of the shaft as per drive shaft flanges. But cant seem to budge it at all. was expecting it to just pull out.
After a few taps from behind with a soft mallet and a lump of wood (very technical) i seem to be stuck.
I dont want to hit the flange too hard incase i damage it as its only cast or unbalance anything.
(have removed the drain plug incase of an air lock)
Does anybody know what i am doing wrong, havent done or what to try next?
Thank you.
rear diff input shaft.
RE: rear diff input shaft.
you have to split the pinion shaft casing to replace the pinion shaft oil seal you will also have to set the rolling torque on the pinion bearing and pinion hieghtand diff backlash,if its not pissing oil out i wouldnt bother
