beneaves was a nice example, partner said it drove lovely i wanted him to see more rs4's to get a better idea of what was out there as silver is not my first choice, yet ur car seemed one of the better ones and was a clear contender, sorry didnt mean to cause offence i was on about the three other chaps in bimingham, wales and leeds, sorry beneaves did not mean to include u in my negative sweeping statment, i was in a whinging mood yesterday, no u were very helpful, thanks Lynsey.

Dont worry, no offence taken, im happy to admit my car is not perfect, i have where possible taken on board comments your partner made and am rectifying some of those. In the current market selling cars is depressing so your positive comments are gladly received.

As we left it on the day, fell free to come back at any time for another look, ill post any corrections i have made to issues on the car

thank you mbelle, that would be most helpful. The car had filler in rear quarter and paint in parts, also would not take it out on test drive as trader said he needed special insurance, the wheels were suposed to b genuine audi refurbished due to curbing.

Due to possible change in lifestyle, I may have to sell my RS. As some of you know this car is pampered!

Late 2001my, 56k miles, Black leather with Piano trim, T&T, Full Audi and MRC SH, not long serviced at MRC including new pads, MAF ,gearbox oil, fuel filter and remap.

Also fitted are Milltek cat back, short shift, AWE Dts, Hotchkis ARB's and Powerflex rear bushes.

Goodyear F1 asymmetric tyres with at least 6mm tread on them. Only covered approx 2k miles. Wheels replaced last year with hard type.

Car was detailed back in the summer and looks as new. Some stones chips can be found on the front and a couple aof small chips can be found elsewhere around it.

Lots of history inc. receipts , old tax disks and old mot's

Always garaged and never dirty!

Hey Mikey what is a 'change in lifestyle' that merits selling your RS? Are you bugging out of the market??lol Or emigrating to Florida and need the money for a golf cart?

I find it perplexing that prospective buyers seem to reject cars based on a few stonechips and bits of mirror trim.

Are the mirror backings very expensive?

There is a divide of opinion over whether a car showing it's inevitable chips is better than one whose owner has had the bonnet, wings, etc repainted.

These cars have potentially £15000 of financial pain under the bonnet, a few thousand under the wheelarches and at current age many original clutches must be ready for replacement.

If you're in the market for one of these, by all means be choosy about the exterior colour and of course it is unrealistic to retro-fit (or remove) a sunroof. But sat-nav and mirror casings are the stuff of ticking boxes when specifying a brand new car. It would be better to establish the state of the engine (scrutinise servicing regime, check under oil-filler for black sludge), and make sure the condition of the brakes, tyres, suspension, exhaust, etc are in agreement with the asking price. Just because a car needs tyres and brakes does not mean the car has been abused, but it should mean a discount.

These cars are an absolute bargain at the moment. There seems to be a popular opinion that a spotrs car has to be revved silly and grip badly when cornering. Eventually the world will wake up (again) to the superiority of forced induction and all-wheel-drive.

Well said SimonC!! And mikey about that o/s kickplate and the usual trim/door rubbing issue- had that on both of mine and seen it on others- always that door, that side. Think it might be related to the wiring for the CD multichanger which is on that side. Got to thinking about it cos mines got a DVD screen in the glovebox (don't ask) and the wiring to the player in the boot (again- don't ask) has disturbed the front o/s kickplate trim too- although no rubbing. I think the tolerances were just too close giving rise to that almost characteristic rub- anyone else got the same problem- just interested as previous 1.8tQ had the same multichanger/head unit setup but no probs, but then no side skirts either.......
