The sound is not loud, and the low end is ok. Could be a bit louder in my opinion.
Milltek exhausts?
Think about it - why do all these companies perform their R&D? There's going to be all manner of issues regarding flow rate, ensuring the two pipes are the same length, materials used for welds/baffling, back-pressure issues even the balance of the whole unit or certain parts or where how mounting points affect the hang of the exhaust on the downpipes etc. (I'm guessing)
Its usually a safe bet that you pay for what you get - a low-priced exhaust might be so because a lot of these R&D costs haven't been incurred but you can pretty much bet that other corners are cut.

I cant knock the miltek system, it sounds fantastic in my opinion. my only complaint is that with the windows closed its way to quite for me when im going for a fun drive. I have to open all the windows to enjoy it.
I would like to make mine louder... I have the miltek 100cell cats, if were to put decatted downpipes in would that increase the volume? also what does each box do in the exhaust system, is one a silence and another a resonator. Would it be worth getting one of the boxes removed and straight pipe welded in place?
Also has anyone seen the Fast Intentions exhaust vid on youtube... Now that sounds amazing!

Two exhaust pipes same lenght? That doesn't make difference in anything if those are not. That exhaust is so cheap compared to the Milltek that you can buy two (or more) of these in the same time than the Milltek lasts.
Unfortunately I don't have any photos installed. It doesn't touch to the cars body ever, not even on the track. OD was 60 mm if I remember correctly.
I think that this is little louder than Milltek, but too silent for me

Some millteks have really tight bends on some systems, I am not talking about just Audi. I have seen parts that have gone a little narrow in places. Price is high for what you get.
If you are not going for a twin and just want a single, an RS4 exhaust can be used, and the centre box either changed for a free flowing one of removed( for even better flow) Bar the centre box the standard RS4 system is all stainless.
you can pick one up for around £100-120 do the math, its a good deal after you have sorted the centre box

I was impressed with the quality of my Milltek on the S2, but Id be willing to bet the difference between it and the one on ebay isnt worth the £400 or so difference in price!!
Im going to take my chances with it I think, if it turns out crap then its not a big outlay, but the fact someone else on here already has one and says its fine is plenty good enough a recommendation for me

Fair enough. I based this on the fact that both length and bore would affect back-pressure and thought it right to have the same back-pressure on both banks of cylinders.okkim wrote:Two exhaust pipes same lenght? That doesn't make difference in anything if those are not.
But then I'm not in exhaust manufacture so can't claim any voice of experience.

You are right enough in what you say if the 2 sides are to join into a single line, the 2 sides should be equal length from the turbos to the join, but where the 2 sides stay separate itll make no difference.travs wrote:Fair enough. The same goes for manifolds, if you have equal length sections merging in sequence as opposed to just joining in one big line you will get a vaccuum effect where the previous cylinder's exhaust gases help to pull the next from the comb chamber
Re: RE: Milltek exhausts?
if you live near Oxford then you're also close to Doug @ MRC (Banbury), why not take a drive up there and have a chat with the guys and you'll probably get to see some examples while your there?Bluebrakes wrote:I live near oxford.
just a thought.
Cool - cheers MBKMilkybarKid wrote:You are right enough in what you say if the 2 sides are to join into a single line, the 2 sides should be equal length from the turbos to the join, but where the 2 sides stay separate itll make no difference.travs wrote:Fair enough. The vibrant exhaust sounds awesome. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't it a 3" single pipe thus it will not bring about the same performance as a dual system?
I was looking at the Vibrant but instead I just fitted one of these:
http://www.autospeed.us/store.php?crn=2 ... how_detail
It sounds a lot like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUCJk0hNdd0&NR=1
It is *LOUD*, probably too loud. I only been flipped off by a 330 Ci with the hood down so far. I couldn't ascertain if his anger was at being destroyed off the lights or at his perforated ear drum
Before this exhaust I had a custom build with two silencers. This one is much louder and I suspect has improved performance. It feels like it has lost a touch of low end torque, but I'll survive with just 500ftlbs. However, it really holds up at the red line where the peak power falls after 6000 rpm.

S4 - no longer missing 1 engine. Last seen leaving trailing black lines of gearbox oil.
