Gap insurance
Gap insurance
Just wondered if anyone has any recommendations for good CAP insurance companies. I'll be picking up the new motor on thursday, and paying Audi £500, when I've already found quotes for about a fifth of that, just seems silly. I just wondered if anyone had any recommendations for good companies to go to for GAP?

After a lengthy session of negotiation i ended up getting the gap insurance for £400 for 4 years. Thought i got a good deal, but no doubt there will someone who may of got a better deal on here.
Are you buying the car from a stealers or private???
Bottom line you get what you pay for I suppouse!!!!

Buying from a stealer. They'll no doubt ask again when I pick it up, so I'll let them know I've had a quote of £`00 for 3 years and see what they say!!

RE: Re: Gap insurance
I bought a GAP policy with my B5 RS4, but over the years I have come to realise that it's probably most valuable to those that cycle through cars by them misteriously being stollen and/or wrecked.
Like all optional insurance, it's the risk you are willing to take.

RE: Re: Gap insurance
Personally I think GAP insurance is mis-sold (aka rip off) most of the time, if you are buying a car on finance then take gap insurance to cover the difference between your finance agreement and the value of the car in the case of a total loss. Gap insurance only covers the total loss situation and effectively prevents you negotiating direct with your insurance company, they want to negotiate for you to minimise their loss.
Don't forget all the other stuff they will try and flog you before you get out, tyre insurance, etc, etc. Grab a coffee and switch off while you listen to the BS....

RE: Re: Gap insurance
Gap insurance was the best thing I ever did, if you had 80 grand’s worth of cars stolen from your drive way like I did you'd feel the same way. for the sake of a few hundred quid I'd argue the fact you'd have to be a complete idiot not to do it!! It's not a rip off it's peace of mind and what price can you put on that??Personally I think GAP insurance is mis-sold (aka rip off) most of the time, if you are buying a car on finance then take gap insurance to cover the difference between your finance agreement and the value of the car in the case of a total loss. Would be nice to afford an 80 grand motor
Still, I stand by my view that gap insurance really isn't necessary unless you buy a new car on finance. Why do we have theft covered on a standard car policy, surely you are entitled to be put back in the position you were in before the vehicle became a total loss. If the gap insurers negotiate a full payout (as you are entitled to anyway) they will have cost themselves nothing and pocket your premium but if you want to pay twice..
Should be renamed 'get your insurance company to cough up as it is supposed to do' insurance.

I hear what your saying but most people now days buy cars on finance and I'm just saying if you're going that route an extra £250 for GAP is so worth while.....
