Headlights
Is it just me or are the headlights set too high on the RS? Everybody is flashing their high beams at me in the dark....dont seem to of run anybody over so there's nothing sticking out the grill! Is there any adjustment to the height anybody know? Can't see anything in the destruction manual.

RE: Headlights
Really?! Jeez. The horrible thing is that they were obviously blinding some bugger an he veered toward me making me swerve an rimming my perfect alloy wheel this eve! Sitting in my room weeping as i type!!

RE: Headlights
It wouldn't hurt to check the level they are set to though to see if they are actually too high, but to adjust it you will need VAG-COM or similar to put them into setup mode. The self levelling is a result of the level sensors one on the front suspension, one on the rear, but they still have manual adjustments to align them.

RE: Headlights
Could be the automatic headlamp levelling is defective or broken. If you brake heavily do you ever notice that the beam drops as you'd expect then suddenly corrects itself?
RE: Headlights
There is some adjustment without vagcom - loosen the two bolts at the top of the headlight unit and push forwards to point the unit lower + retighten.
Also - the headlights go through a up/down check when you first switch them on so you'll see if the motors are working.

RE: Headlights
as grant says, "basic settings" using vcds (vag-com or similar) will move the lights through the full movemnet and reset them. there are basically no manual adjustmnets as they are setup to link to the vehicle height - measured by the potentimeters on the suspension. the reason is just as you have experienced - if they go out of range they are too bright and therefore dangerous.
also, if they are out of range, you have a vehicle that will not pass mot (or similar)

Yep,
Mine failed it's last MOT because of failed headlamp motor replaced under warranty as apparently a sealed unit.

Might also be worth checking your the setting on the reflectors are set for UK driving and someone hasn't forgotten to set them back from a trip to Europe....some people can find this quite irritating
