Driving home this evening something wasn't right, accelerating car felt weird. Then seat broke!
Not funny, dont laugh....nearly crashed the bloody thing.
So I now need a new drivers seat and a crash diet....suspect the first will
be easier than the second.
Will take it out this weekend and see if a spot of mig welding can fix it....
Anyone taken out the drivers seat?

yeah dead easy take off the trims from the rear of the seat runners, then remove the pin or (10mm bolt) from the front guide, unplug the wiring and then the seat will slide out of the runners.be carefull not to get grease all over the trim

make sure the ignition stays off when the seat is out or you will get an airbag fault

Unless you can get the damaged components clear of the seat itself, don't bother welding it.
You'll just have a nice toxic fire going otherwise.
Seriously, the foam inside burns very quickly.
I had an accident in the garage a few weeks ago. I was welding up a frame for mate's bike and a stray spark hit an old cleaning sponge in a cupboard. *Sniff sniff* "Do you smell something?" "there is something glowing in the cupboard!" <beep> quick put it out. Brake cleaner nearby, etc.

Why do they call it rush hour when nothing moves!?!
Standard S4, but not for long.

All done, gaffer taped the seat holes on the bottom and used some ally plate to protect the foam at the front.
Bracket was badly cracked, buckled and bent in several places, so lots of welding, hammering and levering later all fixed and firmly in place.
