Gearbox annoyance!!

Post by BiscuitWheels » Sat Sep 06, 2008 12:06 pm

Hi all,

Still not bought the "brand new" RS6 yet but the lady is kindly lettin me use it whilst my truck is up for sale. Can't believe how a car that cost 60K new, has a mere 3000 on the clock and what with it bein an Audi too can have so many problems! I have the car for 3 weeks so it's a good time to give it a proper test. Every morning when i go off to work so its been stood a while, starts fine dash says ok, reverse out of my space, put into drive and hopefully off i go but now its taken to keeping all the gear drive letters highlighted and gives me about half power untill i stop the car restart it and its fine for the rest of the day. Anybody help me on this one?

Hi BiscuitWheels, I'd suggest running a fault scan using VAG-COM/VCDS or similar.

VAG-COM http://www.ross-tech.net/vag-com/advert ... ochure.pdf

Probably best off finding someone local to do a fault scan. ;-)

Failing that you will need to take it to an Audi main dealer or specialist.

your transmission is going into "limp" mode - which is a result of a major malfunction. the cause could be realtively simple, or very expensive. do not ignore it.
