New owner saying hello and a few Q's !

Post by MGR » Mon Aug 25, 2008 10:50 am

Hi,

I've recently purchased a stock 2000 model S4 in silver with cream leather. I've only driven about 1000 miles in it even though I've owned it for about 3 months now.

Initial impressions are that I love the looks and build quality of the car. This is my first audi and I'm impressed. My cars done 90K and still feels solid. The bose sound system is awesome and its got a quality feel to it even now. Its a verry practical car and feels very stable, especially under braking.

The only thing that shows that this car has done some milleage is that the gearstick moves slightly when in gear and accelerating or braking. I assume that this is just some rubber/plastic bushes that have worn and should be replaced quite easily ?

A few weak points of the car are that I feel the brakes are terrible esp from higher speed, the steering is a bit lacking in feel and I find the pace of the car quite slow. I think i'll be doing a check to make sure its all working properly then look into getting some sort of chip to sort out the top half of the rev range. It pulls well at low speed but then seems to run out of puff above 4K. Any recomendations for a chip ? MRC seem to come up a lot on the search.

These are minor gripes though, overall for under 10K ive got a very nice car.

here are some pics of it on its only journey so far in my ownership... off to lemans

Nice car, very tidy.
Shame about the viper stripes. What was the previous owner thinking? ;-)

MRC are the only people I trust with my car.
Doug and Lucas know there stuff and have always been very helpful in after sales care.

AMD seem to be going downhill with their dodgey remaps. I guess they don't have a high standard for employees anymore. :-)
Why do they call it rush hour when nothing moves!?!

Standard S4, but not for long.

Lol - yes the stripes were just a bit of fun for the run down to LeMans, came off the minute I got back. On the plus side I got 'respect' from the local maxpower crew  Thats the only photos i have of the car so far as I've been busy and the weather has been poor.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm going to get the car down to a Rolling road next month see if its me or if it really is down on power. If it is I'll check the air flow meter first.

replace the maf as a matter of course asap and change the dv/s for 710n,s while your at it. can save you a lot of hassle and expense in the future.i know this from experience. total cost about 130 and tops an hour for a 5year old to fit. jim :D
