Haha, yes, the man who bought a golf that walks over stage 1 B5 RS4s

The Golf is only temporary fun, I doubt I'll keep it for much longer than another year, and I'm looking for a 996TT just now...

It probably will beat an RS4, but why brag about it on an RS forum?

re Nogaro Blue car Wariwckshire: I took the car off the market to get the bonnet, front bumper and front wheel arches resprayed as comments on the forum suggested that this was an issue. Unforutnately Nogaro blue does show up the stone chips / flecks as white "dandruff"! Been in the paint shop for 4 days now! It comes out of there and having a health check / MAF / DV replacements and whatever else needs to be done. It has been VAG.com'd and no standard fault codes, just low airflow hence the MAF replacement. Will put it back on here in a few weeks time when this is all sorted!

Thanks for the comments steffo's , it makes a difference when people communicate and glad that you are getting the minor issues ironed out so that someone can have a nice tidy car.

Get the DV's replaced with the 710's as they are much stronger and suit the RS better than the standard ones.

MAF is common on these so no probs there and hopefully the stone chips will be sorted. Someone will get a nice motor there and as you probably know there are some quite tired, crooked motors out there with only an estimated 300 on the Road in the UK now.

Thanks Contigo. to be honest i was more than a little nervous about the bonnet respray as i have not seen many that i would say are a good job. the guy doing it is certainly taking his time and keeps talking to me about 3 pack paint and baking!?!? Maybe he is throwing in a juicy fruit cake as part of the deal. Will post before and after on here when i get it back.

Appreciate the advice on the DVs and have made a note.

Re crooked cars, i am amazed at how much intelligence is on this forum. I could not work out for the life of me why the Misano Red number with 70k miles was not shifting. It appears all is not as it seems if the threads are to be believed.

There are alot of stories like that on here really and that's why this is a value forum really, although it can be a sellers/traders nightmare :D

Search for the 710's on a seperate thread, If I was you, being not far way from Banbury I'd make a quick trip to Doug (when he can fit it in) and get the DV's and MAF done there and a quick health check, it will be worth it's weight in Gold when you come to sell it and piece of mind for the owner and it will only cost you say around 50 notes on top of the other work.

Following last thread i just thought i would post an update on here. Only just managed to get down to the west country to pick up the car. Front end respray is alot better than i had hoped. colour match is spot on and the finish is again better than i expected. Fella who did the job, cut his teeth at an award winning VAG body shop (Beamans) so immediately felt at ease when he took the sander to the bonnet! Was £200 more than quoted as he did the whole front end but would rather pay more from the outset than have to strip it back and start again. Had a new MAF fitted which has totally transformed the throttle /turbo response. The depletion in peformance must have been so gradual i didnt notice. Ran VAG.com and airflow issue sorted. No other codes. only decision now is to sell or not to sell...? might just put a deck chair in the garage with a draught tap, and just.... :D

There was an RS2 in the classifieds for £13k with 135k miles.
No disrespect to RS2 owners but surely nobody would pay more for an RS2 than an RS4?
I would, as long as it was a minter.
I like the RS4, but I prefer the look of the RS2 more, and I was here first.
