RS4 cab. More questions.

Post by ARSEY4 » Thu Aug 07, 2008 5:22 pm

They show the cabs on the web site but not in the configerator, are they still being made?
Can anyone who has driven a saloon and cab back to back give any comments.
I am assuming that the cab came without the option of sports suspension plus as all i have seen look as though they are on stilts. Is that correct?

Not sure whate else I can say over and above what I said here

http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... 3cc029f227

except that my Cab has the same 'Standard' suspension as all the rest of the RS4's without SS+ so I'm not sure where "Stilts" come from. I didn't think mine looked as if it was on stilts to be honest.

I don't know if SS+ was offered for a cab but I suppose that if the standard ride height is the only thing putting you off then there are a couple of after market options out there to bring it down to or below the SS+ height, they will also get rid of the DRC if you want.

Have you tried a local dealer for a drive of one? That really is the only way to be sure rather than read my drivel.

Funnily enough, I walked past a cab at the lights today and really had to do a double-take to make sure it was an RS. Not sure whether it was the ride height , shape, mirrors or colour (navy) but it had no presence at all...

Not having a go at Graham. His looks great, although we don't see pics anymore :(

Graham did you have yours lowered or spacers put on or am i thinking of another car?
In the pics yours doesnt look too bad but trawling through the audi used site the cabs look very high in comparison to saloons and avants on sports + and even higher than sports suspension. For some reason the cabs dont appear to have as wider track in that the wheels dont protrude from the car as much and this is what dom means by them not sitting as mean as the saloons or avants. Having had sports plus on my old saloon you can instantly tell if another car has not got it.
Are you the only cab owner on here?

I've got an RS4 cab. I can't say I agree with the stilts thing - it doesn't look particularly high to me, although I've never directly compared it to either a standard saloon or one with ss+. It still looks fairly hunkered down to me.

As for the lack of presence, I prefer to think that the cab goes about its business with a degree of stealth and subtlety, but maybe that's just me. That said, it has enough presence that I see a lot of the passers by outside my house having a good look as they wander past. That certainly never happened with the S4 cab I had previously, which really did have understated looks.

I think most cabs look slightly awkward with the roof up (although the RS4 is actually prettier than most in this respect), but when the roof is down, to me it is one of the better looking car on the road.

I don't think I'm the only one with a cab on here, I'm sure there is at least one other. When this particular picture was taken there was nothing done to it - all completely standard, since then I have added 8mm spacers at the front and 10mm spacers to the rear just to bring the wheels out to the edge of the arch.

Having said that, the cab has the same track as the saloon and Avant so I think it must be an optical illusion.

If you have a look on the used car locator you can tell the difference. RS4s dont photograph that well as the sqat stance really doesnt come over well. Grahams car looks fantastic and the you tube clips it looks very cool. But to someone who has had ss+ i do notice that they are higher, not a critisim just a fact. :)
Graham could you post some pics of your car with spacers please.

This is the thread I put up re the spacers, only one crappy pic at the moment but it will give you an idea.

You will see that there are several replies saying that you can get the same result using the wider tires some folk are now using.
