Not an S3 but same engine

Post by S2tuner » Sun Aug 03, 2008 1:15 pm

Here's my new car (some people on here have seen it in the flesh already):

Image

03/2007 mk5 Golf GTI Edition 30, same engine as the S3 TFSI, detuned to 230 BHP vs 265 on the S3.

Mods:
-Bilstein PSS10
-S3 FMIC (bolt on cheap upgrade, worth at least 10 to 15 BHP)
-full Milltek exhaust system with 3" downpipe and no cats (special order)

Image

up until a week ago the car was running 345 BHP on the aforementioned setup+remap and it was pretty sweet, then I decided to go a few sizes up on the turbo, because there are a few good solutions for these engines out there already, so I went for a GT3071R turbo and full kit.

After spending quite a bit of time swapping the injectors and fuel pump for uprated units (BIG THANKS to Chris and David for their help!!!!) and then more time refining the maps for this kit, the verdict of the dyno came this afternoon, and it hit me as a hammer, as I wasn't really expecting that much:

Now I only need a stronger clutch and maybe a limited slip diff and this should be a great trackday car.

A lot if it's mapped properly, but the standard 200 BHP TFSI is definitely not as strong as mine ;)

The APT Kits are a great value for money , Mind you the tfsi fuel pumps are a bit fiddly to do......

mine took 30 mins all in to swap and I did it myself. injectors are more tricky and the remapping is even more tricky, but luckily I can do those live, which AFAIK no one else apart from the factory can

full milltek+S3 FMIC+remap, and from now on, we make our high pressure fuel pump mandatory with this power upgrade stage, because the standard one is just not up to the task.

Nah, I wish I had too much of either... if I did, then I'd be driving a Continental GT or an LP640... but yeah, it scares everyone that gets to run against it, that's for sure, latest "victim" was a Gallardo with which I kept up side by side from 115 to 165 mph
