Hi,
As I realised during my first track day at Donington, the standard brakes on the RS4 tend to go AWOL after three-five laps or so.
At this point, I can't go for a full brake upgrade so I was wondering if there's a smart/cost-efficient way to increase its performance without doing irreversible damage to the discs/calipers.
Such as :
- Different brake pads (brand/model)
- Different brake fluids (brand/model)
- Maybe just changing the front discs (brand/model) as I have no clue how much that would cost ?
Would anyone have an opinion ?
Cheers,
Eric
Cost-effective OEM braking ?

Re: Cost-effective OEM braking ?
Do Mintex do a fast road/track pad for the RS4 ?
If so I expect it to be a good upgrade from standard pads and relatively easy on the discs.

Re: Cost-effective OEM braking ?
IMHO there is no real alternative but to upgrade, if you cut corners you still get to change the brakes in the end
I tried Quattro GMBH discs and pads, awefull, the discs did not even last 10k miles
I did look to source other pads but did not really find anything worth having. Most pad manufactureres do things for the S4 but not the RS
Basically the reason that your brakes are fading is due to heat build up in the pad and disc so the only way to decrease this is a better pad or disc, nothing really cheap, you just need to spend the money on it
After my upgrade to Movit 4 pot fronts I found after a cool down lap the pedal feel was spongy, this was where the heat had boiled the fluid, so i then upgraded to 5.1 fluid which has a higher boiling point and seems to have stopped that problem
Thats it for now, hope this helps
Cheers

IMHO the Castrol SRF4.1 fluid has served me well for over a year now and never once boiled, haven't tried the 5.1 stuff yet.
