Oil presure??

Hello i just wondered what is your cars oil presure RS2 owners at 900 rpm and engine hot? , on my rs2 is about 1.2 bar, but on my other audi v6 coupe it stays at 3 bar, is that OK?

At tickover mine is reading 2.9-3.1 ish bar, after i just did a 10-15 minute drive from a mates. [img]images/graemlins/thumbs.gif[/img]

I have about 1.8 bar at idle.

Typically the autocheck will warn if pressure is too low.

My RS2 oil pressure today was 2.3 bar at 750 rpm tickover, oil temp 60 deg c (it's never been off the lowest stop even in the hot weather), water temp 88 deg c, ambient temp 17 deg c - all this was after a 10 mile slow drive home. I left the engine running until the fan cut in at about 95 deg c & the oil pressure dropped to about 2.0 bar on tickover. In normal running ol pressure is always up to max at 5.0 bar. Can we assume all gauges are accurate?

Just checked mine - I'm not sure your oil pressure is too low.
When started from cold, oil pressure is just under 5 bar.
As car warms up oil pressure drops - when hot with fan going the oil pressure at tickover settles at 1.2 bar. Revving engine to 2000 revs immediately increases oil pressure to over 3.5 bar.
According to the manual the oil pressure warning light and check tone should come on if the oil pressue suddenly drops below 1.8 bar when driving - presume this means when the engine is above idling revs.
Oil in my car is Mobil 1 0 - 40W.

Thx m8, My engine runs on fully-synthetic oil, recommended by audi, but not sure what previous owner been using?.

When its really hot its just over 2 bar at idle (just under 800 rpm). In normal cruising (e.g. 3k rpm) its 4-5 bar.

Likewise the water temp always shows 80 and only gets to 90 when stuck in a jam.

1.2 sounds a bit low, though it could be just the gauge. Assume the low oil pressure warning light doesn't light up ?

would be worth checking the sender on your oil pump and make sure its giving a good signal and that the connections on the back of your gauge on dash are good. If its dodgy you can get a false reading.

Cold engine 3.5 bar? i think is bit low, it should be 5 bar or just under.
